Question
My job might move me to the UK for a few years. While I've really enjoyed the earning power and redemption possibilities of the Citi ThankYou network, I don't think this exists in the UK (and I have no interest in paying the foreign exchange fees on the card).
What credit cards are there in the UK market that earn versatile points (flights, hotels, etc.)? Here in the U.S., I have the AmEx SPG card, the Citi PremierPass Elite, the Citi DiamondRewards AmEx (5 pts/$ for certain purchases), and a United VISA (just cuz).
Answer
other than amex and diners club charge cards, im not sure which others offer mile/point transfers in the UK.
Answer
AmEx has a Nectar points card as well. Is anyone that familiar with this reward program?
Answer
Nectar's useless. Good if you're at Sainsbury's or petrol stations or the like anyway for extra points, kinda like FlyBuys in Australia, but I certainly wouldn't use it as my primary program. Go with either Amex, with the goal of eventually doing a global consolidation back in to your US MR account, or with the United Visa which earns 1 MPM per £.
Answer
Citi also offers an AAdvantage card for 1 AA mile / 1GBP
Answer
See here for information about American Express' Global Transfers program which will assist you in establishing a UK account based on your US credit history...
