Is it possible to convert a Citibank secured MC to a Citibank AAdv MC once enough time has passed since opening the account that it is no longer necessary to keep the security deposit in the certificate of deposit account linked to the card?
If it is possible to convert card types without making a new application, can you receive the 20k bonus miles for the new credit card type?

Generally no bonus on conversion. Conversion within a card-type group is easy (say PremierPass to AA). Conversion between groups can be hit and miss. E.g., some people report Citi wouldn't let them convert their student cards to regular cards, some people say that it was fine. What did Citi say when you called them?
