Question
Does anyone know what I can do with approximately $1700 GM card earnings I don't need? Apparently you can only use these points, now, for GM purchases...there are no other redemption options. I called indicating that I wanted to close the account and don't need the points. I even offered to donate my miles to a charity program, but they said they have no such program. Any thoughts on what I can do? Thanks.
Answer
Any relatives or friends about to buy a GM?

Now? Was there previously an alternate redemption option? I know that HSBC recently introduced a version that does allow other options, but did your card ever provide anything else?
Answer
I remember a thread from a couple of years ago that said you could apply your GM earnings for anyone's benefit not just your relatives, etc.
You might want to check that out. Ebay might be a possibility.
Answer
Ebay is the way. You have to add the buyer to your card for the tansaction purposes. Say 1750 GM dollars will sell on ebay for around 500-600 dollars. Add the buyer to your card, give buyer your name, card #, and Last four of your SS#. It take some trust. I have done it.
