I would love the amex red to come stateside. It would make a great conversation piece, too.
I've been eschewing gold/plat/black cards in favour of affinity cards.
Sure it's kind of lame, but I can support groups I believe in and show that I support them. And depending on your group, there's no small cachet that comes with that.

That would be hot, not to mention all the "Daddy's little girl(s)" who would want a pink Amex to go with her pink new outfit and entire pink wardrobe --- big potential for long-term high spend --- just like the pink RAZR has caught on??

Yeah, and references to black credit cards are popping up in the media too. If you happen to watch that new show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip", in this week's episode one of the NBS network executives offers to use their "American Express Black" credit card with a "$1,000,000 limit" to bail one of the characters out of jail.
