Question
I just tried to use the Companion Travel feature of the CitiPremier Pass Elite Card (866-553-2082) and was told that they cannot book any flights for me since my flights all come up as code shared flights.
This is rediculous since what flights these days are not code shared??? Example: United and USAir, Continental and Northwest or Delta, etc.
The Companion Travel feature is completely useless from my perspective. :td:
Answer
I don't think they mean you can't use a flight that is code shared. They mean that you must book a flight using the operating carrier's code. But yes, as has been discussed many times previously, the PP Elite companion ticket program is nowhere close to as good as it sounds on paper (not surprising since this is a $75/yr card). IME, the flight quotes I get would save me $40 or so from just buying the two tickets outright. Deceptive? Probably. Useless? Not really.
Which city pairs are you looking at?

I was quite appalled by it too... but they mean any flights that are code shared with multiple carriers are not allowed. As an example - this rules out any United flights since all United flights are code shared with *Alliance partners such as US Air and America West, etc.
I was looking at LAX-RDU or LAX-EWN when I had called them. I called back and they did manage to find LAX-RDU through AA at $660, but I can buy 2 tickets for less than $450 on the date that I had provided them through US Airways...
