Yes, its legit. Have applied and gotten my 25K miles.

Answer
There have been many posts on this subject. Many people have taken advantage of this offer. What makes this offer different from some of the others is that you need to charge $250 on the card before you get the bonus miles.

Answer
Yes it's legit and relatively new. Firstusa.com is owned by Chase.

Answer
The application site is *STUPID*. I had to lie in order to get it to submit--there's no way to enter 0 for the months you've worked at your job. I've worked there many years but it's even--no months.

It took me an hour to figure out where it went wrong - no 0 month allowed - in the past there is a 0 in the pull-down menu - alas, the new one is blank for 0 and the site wont accept it.

I hope they are better at giving miles than they are at website design.

It's generally accepted that the time between applications should be 45-60 days for Chase. They do reject applications because of too many applications for credit within a certain timeframe.
I too initially applied for the 17500 offer and then saw the 20, 21, and 25 offers come out. Just wait a couple of months and apply again for another card and more bonus miles.
Or are you saying that they sent you an application for 17500, you filled that out and they rejected it for you? If so, that sucks.

Answer
The card showed up in yesterday's mail.

Answer
Anybody know exactly how they interpret this?
This offer is valid only for first-time cardmembers with new accounts. Existing cardmembers/accounts are not eligible. Only one offer per account.
I've got several United credit cards...
1. United MP Visa Signature
2. United MP Visa Signature Gold Class
3. United MP Gold MasterCard
I got the two Visa cards in June of this year. I've had the MasterCard for many years.
I'm ready to scoop up another card or two - especially if I can get one with no fee.
My question: would I qualify for this 25k miles/no fee card?
Thanks!

I don't see why not. MAny folks have many more cards than you do. Keep applications 45-60 days apart and if you have good credit/score, they should hook you up.. They may want to call you and at that point you may be able to spread credit from other cards to a new one if they feel they are extending you too much credit.

Answer
I know it defies logic, but here's what it means: After one closes an account in good-standing, one may, if one chooses, re-open it at a later date. This does not confer new cardholder status, nor does it result in bonus mileage.
And, though this defies logic also, no matter how many accounts one has, one is considered a new cardholder anytime one applies for, and is approved for, a new account; and as such, is entitled to all new cardholder sign-up bonuses.

Answer
Makes sense. Well, actually, it makes no sense at all, but I understand your interpretation and see where they may be coming from (which seems to be, they care more about issuing new cards, and aren't too worried about most of the other particulars when it comes to this stuff).
Thanks for the help. I'll try signing up for this one today.

Answer
OK, I signed up online - we'll see!

Answer
Card came today - no problems. I'll be using it for a purchase of at least $250 tonight, so the free 25,000 miles should be on the way. Cool. ^

Keep us posted! I'm curious because I think I got messed over on this one... only got 20k but don't have the link in my e-mail anymore to verify I got the 25k offer.

Answer
If you missed out on a handful of miles because you went for a lesser card, it's no big deal. Just get another card...it appears that one can get a lot of these with no negative consequences. :D

Answer
BTW, there's a nearly identical offer for a United Business Visa card. Here's the link...

Almost the exact same deal: 25,000 miles for sign-up, annual fee waived first year ($75 thereafter). You get the miles after you've made $250 in purchases. This seems to be fairly unusual - typically they won't waive the first year fee for a business card.
Yes, this is a "business" card. However, there don't seem to be any formal requirements for business cards that are different from personal cards (at least in my limited experience - I already had several Northwest Wordperks visa cards, and applied for a NW WP business visa card, and was approved).
You don't need to be a captain of industry to get a business card. Joe Sixpack can apply as the sole proprietor/owner or Joe Sixpack Inc (it looks to me like they treat the application just like a personal card, keyed to Joe Sixpack's SSN and credit worthiness).
I just applied online using the link above for the United MP Business Visa. Assuming it's approved this will be the 4th United MP visa card I have. I'll post back here with the results in about a week when I hear.
Hope that's useful to someone.

Answer
Rather weirdly, I received 25000 miles after just $230 in purchases. Not complaining...
I have a Citi AA platinum card which also requires $250 in charges before awarding any bonuses.

It goes on you credit record and saps a few FICO points; plus, if you have too many cards, there are flags (although lenders usually overlook those)

Answer
So I've gathered that folks just call in a little after 6 months and say that they don't want to pay the annual fee coming up next year, and Chase will just drop the card to 1 mile for every 2 spent with no annual fee?
Also, for someone with a relatively low income level (i.e a med student), it might not be a bad idea to either consolidate accounts or lower the credit limit on an existing one?
I have had a Chase card for years, and they've bumped up my credit limit to $16,000 or so. Might make churning a bit more of a pain for me down the road...

Answer
Did you mean no annual fee the first year , or for ?

I don't see how you come up with the 45-60. But this is definitely about your credit score and your record with the bank.

45-60 days is the experience of other churners with Chase. Otherwise there is the risk of getting a letter stating "you have too recently applied for credit with Chase"
I believe my post was in response to a post that wasn't really clear on the individuals situation. If their intent was to apply again and/or regularly, my input had merit.

Answer
Do the 25K miles appear on the first billing statement (assuming you charged $250+ during that time) or is there a delay? I just receieved my first statement and only 1,784 miles appeared (equals my spending).

I've twice had them post with the first billing cycle. The last card that posted it's first billing cycle last week has not credited the bonus miles yet either and only has the miles equal to the spending(same as you, over the $250). You are not alone. I believe in the term & conditions it says it can take 4-6 weeks for bonus miles to post, although I can't find a reference to that to verify. I'm gonna wait a while before making an issue of it.

I also had this happen... I contacted Chase and a very helpful customer service agent assured me the miles would post at the end of my second billing cycle. Sure enough, they did...

Thank you. So they should post at about the time for me to reapply for another card. :D

I just can't see where it is better to have a card based reward program. My calculations lean toward the airline based ff programs. Can anyone post statistics that validate or invalidate my thoughts?

I think some of the most important considerations are subjective and therefore don't lend themselves to statistics. For me, the card based program which allows a choice of airline is better because I can't predict which airline will charge how much a few years from now when I'm going to use the miles. By having the ability to choose where to use the miles, I can point them to the most attractive choice.
Avaiability of rewards is another reason I prefer card-based programs. Same logic-if one airline has no available seats, I can look elsewhere.

this is discussed elsewhere in this forum.
Basically, if you want coach tickets, Thank You Points is better. If you want First or Business and trust your airline program to have award availability when you need it, a miles-based card is better.
With Thank You Points, a cash back equivalent on all spending is routinely 4-6%. My NW Visa is nowhere near that high, mostly because of limited award availability. But if I ever snag a WBC ticket to Europe in high season for 100,000 miles, I'll have scored.

Applied for the signature card, I already had one. It showed up within a week. Do save information for the offer that you applied for because there is no word of it when you receive the card. After activating the card I went to customer service to make sure that I had the 25000 offer and not the 17000 et al.. I must say that service was good and there were no problems, but I had no supporting information.
Also applied for the business card. This evening Chase calls me to ask me to fax them a copy of my business license. I don't know whether it is because I put in a business name that was not my personal name or because I live in Illinois. I did find that in Illinois there is an extra legal hoop to run through if your business is not your personal name.
Good luck

Answer
Can you apply for both the personal and the business at the same time and get miles on both?
EDIT: following my own advice to read the many threads on the subject, the answer seems to be "yes"
Using your own name for the business name seems the simplest course. Listing the name as an Inc. or LP or whatever if you are not an Inc or LP or whatever is likely not the best idea.

I thought it was odd the business app did not ask for a ff#. For those of you that recieved the card. When do they ask for your number?

They may automatically issue you a new MP number, so when you get your card call Chase and ask them what ff# they have in file for you and then change it to your regular number...it slows down the whole process a bit but you will get your miles...it happened to me.

Oh nevermind.

I would wait more than two months between applications. I applied for my first card on 10/10/06, and got the miles. Then I applied for my second card on 12/08/06, and only after spending $250 on the card got a letter in the mail from Chase saying they won't give me miles since the offer is only for new accounts.
