Question
I just noticed this at Thankyounetwork.com:
Expedia.com® is the exclusive travel sponsor of ThankYou Network
Earn points when booking travel on Expedia.com® no matter how you pay.
If you've got a Citi® Credit Card or Debit Card, use it to book your travel and earn even more points.
Clicking through takes you to an Expedia page. You earn one TY Point for every dollar spent at Expedia (on any purchase more than $50) after you sign up. This seems to be in addition to your usual credit card points.
Pretty sweet, if you need to use a third-party for your next trip.
Answer
I also saw this when I checked my upcoming itinerary on Expedia. I then linked my expedia account to my ThankYou account.
Answer
Interesting. This does appear to be geared towards hotel or vacation packages (where Expedia actually makes their money). Note the exclusions in the T&C (http://www.expedia.com/daily/highlights/rewards/Thank-You-Network-Terms.asp):
The following travel items are not eligible to earn ThankYou Points:
Stand-alone rental car
Rental car added on as a post-purchase item
Activities and services totaling less than $50
Stand-alone flight
Flight + car package
Note also that 1 pt/$ at Expedia through ThankYou Merchants has been around for a long time (at least since last Christmas). The problem is that it does not post very reliably. I've used it maybe twice. Once didn't post, manually submitted for credit, received. Second didn't post, manually submitted, nothing (and no explanation). I don't bother with them anymore (even though the points do get matched with flight points if they actually post) and just go for the 2% cash back through FatWallet (whose CSRs actually respond to inquiries). Wonder if that cash back would stack with this new offer from Expedia...

The TY Merchants program has been revamped - now anyone can get points at TY merchants (previously it was only available to those TY Members with a Citi Cards Relationship.) Also, the way points post has been changed, they used to route through Cards to TY and now they come directly to TY so point posting problems you had before should be resolved.
