Question
I normally pay my citi card bill online but I had a lot of spending on this month (double my hard limit) and needed to prepay in the middle of the month to free up some room.
When I went to pay again online they said that I could not bec. It must be X days since last online payment.
I went to my local citi branch and paid in person on my billing due date, 10/16. I have a receipt for my payment.
I just spoke with an outsourced (India) CSR who told me that I will have to pay finance charges on the amount I paid on 10/16 for the few days it takes them to receive the payment from the local branch.
Does this make sense to any of you? I paid citi on the due date. Was this csr wrong?

This is a good feature. The payment increases available credit immediately. However, the payment does not post immediately. (It seems to post a few days later). It's strange, but it works for me.
Answer
When the payment does post, it will be backdated appropriately, so finance charges and late fees should be avoided.
Answer
I have a friend who regularly runs to the local Citi branch to pay her AA credit card bill on the due date. She has heard many sotries about how she may get charged a late fee/interest because of delay in sending in payments from branch. But, it never happens.
Answer
the payment posted as of the day i paid so no finance charges.
BTW the check (diff bank than citi) cleared my bank the same day i wrote it. strange

no more "free float". make sure you have fund in your checking account to cover the checks you write - even out of town check can clear the next day.

i was just suprised how fast they processed it, meaning had their cash when they said it would take 3 days to post to my account
Answer
Ive paid my CC Bill also at a Branch on the Due Date and wasnt charged any fees.
HOWEVER, there is a Time Deadline I believe its 2PM or 3PM here in NY. So even thou the Bank might be open after that and they take your payment it will go thru as the next Biz day, thusly making it late and thusly be prepared to be hit with Late Fees and % charges. If this happens on a Fri then it gets processed as if you paid it on a Mon so it will be 3 days of % due.
