Question
Today I noticed that you must now redeem 6,000 ThankYou points for a $50 gift card. Previously, it was 5,000 ThankYou points. Has anyone noticed any other changes?
Answer
Yes, we noticed, and we're sad! $25 gift cards are now 3500 pts.
9500 pts. gets us $75 worth of stuff, now, whereas 10,000 pts. got us $100 previously! Aloha!
Answer
10,000 points is still $100 gift card.
150,000 points is a $150 gift card.
Not all gift cards are available in these denominations, unfortunately.
The ThankYou Network was never truly a 1:1 redemption value into gift cards until the higher denominations. For example, a $5 gift card has long been 1000 points, a $10 gift card 1500 points, $25 gift card 3000 points, etc. They just moved the 1:1 break even point up from 5000 = $50 to 10,000 = $100.
Answer
duplicate.

I was using the points for gas cards. Does anyone know if they are going to offer a $100 gas card for 10,000 points?

Don't know about the future, but right now there are no $100 gas cards. $50 for 6000 pts, $25 for 3500, and $10 for 1500. That's the devaluation: $75 in gas cards for 9500 pts.
Answer
Y and J class tickets to Asia are still 60,000 and 165,000 respectivly...
no devaluation there....
Answer
I think this is actually a good thing for those of us who redeem for flights - because now all of the "$50 gift card" offers give 6000 points instead of 5000.

...and subsequent discussion. Thank You points can be redeemed for both Fixed and Variable airline awards. The online booking engine shows only the variable awards that are based on cost. To book the Fixed awards you will need to call on the telephone.

Is any one looking to cash your thankyou points??? I think that would be a better idea, than redeeming them for gas cards or gift cards. Cashing your thankyou points dose not mean getting a student loan check. There are many other ways you can cash them..

Welcome to Flyertalk ... flyertalk1978. Conversion rates of TY points to cash are horrendous. Only quasi-exception is getting checks to pay student loans. Hence why some people get giftcards.

Citi thankyou network has made changes from Monday 30th Oct 2006. The new rules are going to be implemented strictly in a 7-10 days ....
Domestic ticket is not fixed at 25,000 points, it can vary, it can be any number of points subject to the price of the ticket, on that day. If the price of the ticket is high, number of points needed to redeem will also be high,,, how high? it can be 30K, 50K, 70K(for economy class)
For those of you who want to travel to India, using your thankyou points, it is no more 60,000 thankyou points, it is going to be any where from 120,000- 500,000, depends on the time of travel.(all this is for economy class).
So guys if you have any thank you points sitting in your account, please make sure that you cash them or sell them for atleast 0.015 a point, before these effects are implemented. Right now this transition is going on..
After the transition, 100 Thankyou point WILL NOT BE equal to 1 dollar.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send a message, i will try to answer them as soon as possible.
Thanks

Umm, first of all, if you look at the thread mia pointed you to, you can see that the point/$ online booking engine and the fixed-point redemption options are both going to exist (at least for now). Citi would probably need to offer a lot more than 7 days notice before they made a change of this magnitude to the program.
Second, soliciting offers to buy/sell/trade miles and points are not allowed in this forum. Spreading FUD to try to encourage people to sell points to you seems a particularly egregious way to go about it... :td:
