I'd like to close my Chase Platinum MP Visa card since the companion ticket is useless and the $140 fee is more than double the regular Chase MP Visa card. I've already gotten the bonus $5K and don't spend $35K a year for the additional 5K EQMs. However, I do spend about $2-3K on ual.com online ticket purchases and these EQMs might be worth the extra $80. Is there any other Chase MP card < $140/year that gives you the 1 EQM/$1 spent on ual.com ticket purchases?

Can you elaborate on this? I've been wondering if the companion ticket benefit might be worth $140 (since as you're finding, none of the other cards give you EQM). However, I haven't been able to find the fine print anywhere, and the card's terms and conditions say the companion certificate is subject to limitations printed on the certificate itself, which means I'd need to get the card for a year to learn what those limitations are...

I've got the Ts & Cs right here on the back of the voucher, which are quite extensive so I can't reproduce it all. What makes it useless to me is the booking class being restricted to "T" only. Also 14 day advance required. Roundtrip or single open-jaw itins, no circle trips or one-ways. If you have any specific questions about the Ts & Cs, feel free to ask.

Why do you think the EQM bonus applies only to the platinum card?

I could not verify anywhere whether the $60/year Chase MP Visa offered the 1EQM per $1 purchased at ual.com. Do you know if the regular card offers this?

I think if it did, they would list it as a benefit in the terms and conditions. If it's not listed, my assumption is it's not a benefit. By comparision it's clearly featured as a benefit of the Platinum card.

It's just the platinum card. At least, that's all that offered it when I got one last December.
Why don't you close your platinum and get a second one? Sure it's another $140, but instead of puny renewal benefits you can get ANOTHER 25,000 RDM, 5,000 EQM, etc.
