Question
Got this Chase offer in the mail:
"Earn a free Companion Ticket, good for travel in the continental US on any airline, simply by writing a check for $5,000 or more! Each of the attached checks can earn you 1 free Companion Ticket." (there were 4 checks)
The any airline bit is amusing, since this is a UA card.
The catch, though, is that it's not really free. The APR on two of the checks is 0% until the February cycle, and on the other two, 5.99% until paid off - but the BT fee is 3% capping out at $75.
I'm wondering if anyone has seen or has any experience with this that might suggest that it's worth $75. There is a LOT of fine print. "The recipient of this certificate is entitled to purchase one adult round-trip, coach-class airline ticket at the fare stated in this offer and receive a Companion ticket." (What fare stated? It doesn't say.) "This program is valid only between the listed cities at the fares stated." (Uh, what cities? Doesn't say that either.) And so on.
I'm not expecting a lot of illumination from Chase CS on this...
Answer
Upon further examination, the fares appear to be quite poor:

Their site appears to be:
http://www.companionbooking.com/
Suspicious that they hide everything behind a login screen.
Answer
Got the same offer, am a little suspicious as well - any airline, defined city pairs. Anyone know what the details are behind the companionbooking.com site?
Answer
I got this offer in the mail today. I guess it isn't that great of a deal with everything hidden behind companionbooking.com.
Answer
My offer is for spending $1500 between Feb1 to Mar 31 with Chase Free Cash Rewards card, which is not that difficult to do. The offer is to receive two complimentary companion tickets.
I looked at the comparison at the website suggested by 21A. The conclusion was that the fare was slighly lower from companionbooking, if available. However, the chart was not clear if the price includes one or two passengers. Not sure if it is all believable.
