WANTED: Chase UA MP VISA with 20,000+ miles and no annual fee

Question
I just called and cancelled my Chase UA MP card tonight. Even at midnight EST, they still sent me to the retention department who tried offering me 2,000 miles and no annual fee to keep the card. I said I'll take 20,000 miles and no annual fee, and he couldn't do it so he closed the account.
Need a little help here:
1) How long do I need to wait before applying for a new card?
2) I need a link to apply for another card, one that gives 20,000 miles (or more!) and no annual fee like the one I had before.

Answer
Here's the linkhttp://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?partner_dir_name=united_signature_20k _1styrfree&page=cont&mkid=60NS

Answer
Thanks very much.
Any idea how long I need to wait (if any) before applying for one after I cancelled the last one? I cancelled the last one about 15 minutes ago.

You can have more than one Chase UA card as long as you wait 3 months(?) between applications. Personally, I waited 6 months between applications and that works.

You can get them just days apart. Also, the link for 20k bonus and first year free is on the UAL homepage.

Answer
Hey Konadiver,
Is this the normal response from the retention dept? When you call to cancel, they offer you a free UAL Signature Visa with 2,000 miles? I thought if you didn't want the $2 for 1 mile card they would only offer to cancel you r card. You sound pretty lucky to me!

I could not get that link to work even after separating the word "link" from the http as shown above in how you typed it in here.
BUT I did recall having seen an email with this copy (pasted in here from it, below) and this link seems to bring you right to an app page for the UAL visa:
https://app.firstusa.com/ICBatch/?PID=UAB1&SPID=3H4L&CELL=6MZS&AFFID=&CLICK=&CID=&PROMO=DF01&MSC=Z0060469
(https://app.firstusa.com/ICBatch/?PID=UAB1&SPID=3H4L&CELL=6MZS&AFFID=&CLICK=&CID=&PROMO=DF01&MSC=Z0060469)
And as always, I suggest printing EVERYTHING out when applying for these deals, and get a named CS agent with emplyee ID number to confirm things on the phone too if you can.
If there are any referral bonusses, ask about those too and how they work!

Sorry, to clarify the above posts, are you saying I can cancel the UA Chase Visa and then reapply a couple days later and get the 20k enrollment bonus?
I think I've only had my card for 6 months or so, does that matter? Seems somewhat implausible to get another 20k that quickly, but let me know.

In fact you do not even need to cancel your current card. Many folks on this board have 2 or more Chase Visa cards at any one time. Key is to make sure that there is, if I recall correctly, at least 90 days between applications.

Answer
Ah, I completely forgot reading anything about gaps between applications, only remembering the 6-month open period and the month wait after closing. I ended up applying for my 4th card 60-75 days after my 3rd. I was approved and received the unlisted platinum version of the card with a scary $500 CL. I first thought I was nearing the max total CL on all my Chase cards. Then I thought there may have been some dent in my credit score at the time. Thanks to this thread, I think I've found the actual reason. Thanks! Good news is that I talked to another person who got this unlisted, tacky-looking version and he received the bonus miles regardless.
My revised strategy: Cancel #3 at Xmas, apply for #5 in Jan; cancel #4 in March, apply for #6 in April. Oy.

2) I need a link to apply for another card, one that gives 20,000 miles (or more!) and no annual fee like the one I had before.
Apply now. You can have more than one card. United MP Visa now offering 21K, 1st year free.

Why didn't you just accept this no-fee card and get 2000miles? You can still get the 21k miles if you apply a new first year no-fee card.
I will cancel mine by the end of this month, and if i am offered 2k with no-fee, I will accept it.

Answer
For those that already have two UA chase cards + 2 other chase cards = 4 total.
Should one play it safe and open a new card 30 days after the close of the last statement or is 30 days from closing it via phone enough?

Answer
I think it's actually 45 days in between receiving each card, rather than cancelling it.

Here's one for 25K.

Thanks for the link.
I have a question:
I didn't see your 25K link, so I signed up for the 21K card. But then, after I hit submit on my online application, I realized that I did not enter my Mileage Plus number. Is there a number I can call to give them my account number? Or should I just cut up that card when it arrives and apply again using the 25K link. If I go that route, would it negatively impact my credit score?

the more things you sign up for the more your debt to credit ratio and thusly, possibly your over all score, will be affected. However, a 'paid off' or 'closed by customer with zer0 balance' loan or card is not necessarily always a bad thing. I'd be more watchful but try to ask customer service to help you out when you are in the process of setting up your new card when it comes in the mail. If they cannot, tell THEM their stupidity would negatively affect your credit because you feel forced to try again somewhere else.

Wait till they send you the card. They will probably assing you a new MP number. The new number will probably be on your new MP Visa credit card. Make a purchase, then wait for your bonus miles to post to that new account. Then, contact United and ask for the accounts to be consolidated to your original MP number. Here's the address to write to:
Mileage Plus Account
Attn: Account Consolidation
P.O. Box 28870
Tucson, Arizona 85726-8870
What I described is what I would do in the same situation. It will work out, you just have to be patient for all the process to complete their course.
