I currently have a Gold Citi MC and a regular Citi Amex. Just applied for the Platinum Citi MC with the 20K bonus.
My regular Gold Citi MC is due to renew in October. I was thinking of calling to cancel in the next few weeks to avoid the annual fee (and since I have so many other cards)
What has been everyone's experience with the retention dept. at Citi? Last time, they gave me 5K miles and transferred me to the free bronze card.
Does anyone know if the transfer to the free bronze card represents them checking your credit again? Or is it a straight transfer? I wouldn't mind just taking that offer as an alternative to cancelling it, but only if they give me some kind of bonus.
I'd love to know anyone else's experiences!

MMMM, Citibank Mexico only charges you for the highest anual fee card, the rest are for free. Ohh, and gives you 1.5 miles per USD you spent. Think I´ll stick to the mexican CitiAAdvantage.

Had 3 Citi AAdvantage M/C's (2 personal and 1 Business). Called to cancel both personals (at different times) and was offered 3,000 and 4,000. I waited a couple of weeks for the bonus' to post and called to cancel. Then applied for another personal-25,000 after $250 spent. So far this year I have churned 2 personal, 1 bus, 1 for wife-AAdvantage M/C's and 1 Amex AAdvantage. Total miles for churns and threatened canculations=122,000 miles.
