5% cash back at restaurants: Citi Dividend Plat

Question
This is the cash-back card offered by Citi which appears to have replaced the AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card.
I received a promo offer in the mail today:
invitation number 0164783217
call 877 538 4857 to activate
5% cash back (up to $300 per calendar year) for the next 6 months. Continue to earn 5% cash back on gas, grocery, and drug stores.
Although there is a $300 reward limit, cash is cash and since my other cards don't offer more than 1% TY Points at restaurants, this is found money.
good luck

Try the Citibank Professional Cash or Rewards cards. They earn 3% at restaurants. The Dividend card is fantastic for everyday purchases. Nothing beats 5% cash back.

with premier pass elite, my overall rate of return is 3-4% (I value TY Points at 1.5-2 cents each), so I use that for just about everything. as you said, 5% beats everything though.

Answer
Chase Premier Cash Rewards Business Card gives 3% back on restaurants, gas, etc. with a higher $720.00 cap.

Answer
I have this card too. Anyone know if you get the 5% on FOREIGN restaurants? If so, that would more than compensate for the 3% forex fee.

Answer
The title says 5% back on restaurants but I don't see any restauranat rebate that high in the notes--5% only on gas, drug stores, groceries. Am I missing something or is the maximum restaurant rebate 3%?

if you are talking about the Citi Dividend Plat card then there is a 5% restaurant rebate for 6 months if you are approved for the targeted offer. If you have the card go ahead and call the number and try the offer code or try to sweet-talk them into giving you the offer.

it does not say they don't.

It's not an "offer code"; it's an "invitation number." After entering the invitation code, you are prompted for the last 4 digits of the invitees Social Security number. If you don't have the right SS number, you are told to call customer service. When you call customer service you are told that the offer is by invitation only. Wheedling did not help.

Answer
yeah, the one thing about Citi special offers is that I've never successfully 'wheedled' my way into something I didn't deserve.
On the other hand, it's worth checking under 'special offers' under your account page somewhat frequently, b/c there'll often be something worth finding there. I have been eligible for an offer before when only my wife got the invitation, so it is worth at least asking.
