Question
THere is an offer to get 15K for new card and 10K for balance transfer with 0% interest.
Does anyone know if you can get this card and cancel and re-apply for the same offer in a month or 2. This can be done with the United card, but I wanted to know if anyone has tried it for this card.
I do not have $10,000 to transfer. Do you think it would be possible to give them my Amex account number and transfer $10,000 and then call amex once it clears and get a refund check, or just use the $10,000 credit from my amex card for everyday charges?
Answer
I think you mean US Air (not UA Air). Not sure on cancel and reapply. There are a few threads in the US Airways forum on this card that should have more details. RE: balance transfer, they actually give you a BT check with your new card which you can make out to yourself and deposit. Often better to deposit into an ATM as some tellers have been known to hassle people over these BT checks.
Answer
Thanks for the info! I changed it to US Air. Balance transfer checks made out to me are a great idea! Thanks, I will try it.
I couldn't find any thread on these cards. I tried a search using Credit, Miles and didn't find any good info.
Does anyone have a link to the thread?
Thanks

The transfer checks say there is a minimum 3% charge, how did you avoid this?

You don't. Furthermore, you will probably be charged interest on the fee until you pay off your full balance.
Answer
I just realized that I will be charged $100 for the $10,000 transfer balance. No a bad deal for 10K miles.
There is no additional fee as the APR on balance transfers is 0% for 6 months.

And, as pgary points out, there will be an interest calculated on that amount, which will compound every month, since your payments will probably not be credited toward that.
Answer
Actually it will only be $100 as the maximum finance charge is $100 for any balance transfer, I called to check on this one. Still worth it I think. Thanks for you help!!
