Question
I searched the forums, but the initial thread dealing with this are old.
Is there a UA credit card with free 40K miles out there now?
If not, what is the best mileage deal on getting a UA credit card ?
I never have had any UA credit cards nor, for that matter a UA frequent flyer account. Until recently, UA has not been the best choice for where I fly out of Boston.
Thanks.
Mrs. Pat

Yes, there is such a deal.
It's called the "get two 20K United Cards" promotion. If you search this forum you'll find it has been done many times and you'll also find the link to the 20K promo.
Answer
If anyone can find the link to this program, could you please post it.
Thanks a million!!

lol--that's funny.
Answer
The only deal I have seen is 20K for personal and 20K for business cards with no annual fee. Here is the link.

I can beat that. Apply 3 times on the same day (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=554468). One credit pull, 3 UA cards, 60k miles.

Why stop there?

Why stop there?
Good question. There must be some number that would set a flag for manual review, but I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps I'll try 4 next time. I suspect 5 would be pushing it.

Does it really only count as one credit pull? I'd be surprised if they had their act together enough to consolidate it like that.
Answer
Both times I tried to do 2 applications on the same day for United they denied one as a duplicate. When I called they said I had to wait until a decision was made on 1 before applying for a second card.
Answer
A decision on a credit card can take up to 30 days to determine if one has been granted a credit card
If I am correct you can apply every 60 days with the same company. Granted WHY would one want to.
I know as one person put it. They have the best score so what is a few credit checks going to hurt.
I know a few people that have 20 plus credit cards.. though most are not used But WHY.........
But that is only my opinion
If you just want the free miles then applying is one way to do it
Answer
The 3-apps-1-pull thing really did work for me. This was in mid-March. They may have closed the loophole recently.
I did the 3 applications using offer numbers from different direct mail offers I'd received. Perhaps this avoided them being flagged as duplicate.
There appears to be some amount of manual processing with Chase approvals. They didn't do the credit pull until the next business day.
Answer
How can you tell when the 'credit pull' was done?
Answer
The easiest way to see if a credit pull was done is to subscribe to one of the 3 credit report services. You can also see if the credit is pull from which credit service. There is one service that links all three credit reports. Its not cheap but it lets me sleep at night.
Answer
Experian also lets you view a current report if you have a report number you received in the past:

In my case, they pulled Experian so it was easy to see this way.
