Question
A heads-up in case people missed this. For today only, May 18, AA/Citi have sweetened their current offer of a card with a 25K bonus after a purchase of $250, by offering a companion certificate and waiver of the annual fee (otherwise $85) for a year if you sign up today. This is a pretty great way to get a free 25K. I found it on the AA website.

Yes, I got a confirmation that I had been approved for the card, if that's what you mean.
Answer
Is this companion certificate really worth something? I mean normally such offers come with full fares which are not worth buying at all.
Answer
It's not that bad, it's not limited to just full fares, but it is a range of the more expensive ones. It would work well over the summer when there often aren't any of the lower fares, assuming the entire summer isnt blacked out. Otherwise, for the rest of the year you are right that 2 tickets at lower fare class is likely a better deal.

Answer
The Citi links are still up, although it's anyone's guess whether an application submitted today would qualify for the offer.

Sorry, my eyes missed the OP already saying this. But since I can't delete the entire message, I'll leave it. It's not a bad deal even w/ the annual fee, but I think you can get 15K or maybe even 20K w/ no annual fee w/ some of Gary's other links, so make sure the extra 5K-10K miles is worthwhile for the annual fee.
BEWARE! This is what the terms & conditions say if you use this link ---- you LOSE the free 1st yr and companion cert if you didn't apply on May 18 --- but you still get the 25K miles.
1) The 25,000 bonus mile offer is only valid for new Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® and

This offer will appear as a bonus in your AAdvantage® account 8-10 weeks after purchases totaling $250 or more post to your account. Qualifying purchases do not include balance transfers, cash advances, fees or related finance charges.
2) The no annual fee and free companion certificate offers are only valid for new
Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® and CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® MasterCard® accounts applied for on May 18, 2006 beginning at 12 midnight CST and ending that same day at 11:59 pm CST, and excludes any other

I submitted an app on the 19th through the links I posted, and the card arrived yesterday. The paperwork stated "$0 annual fee for first 12 months; $85 thereafter". I ain't sayin' there's a loophole... but... YMMV ^

Without ExpertFlyer, what's the easiest way online to find inventory for the companion ticket?
Answer
My wife just applied last month, but used a different link, and only got 20,000 miles.
Answer
I applied for the first offer with the annual fee with a personal card and then applied again on the 18h...got the card with the annual fee, but got rejected on the one without an anuual fee. According to Citibank,
It is their policy to allow only one credit card application every 60 days...
so their goes my shot at 50,000 miles....
I guess I will have to apply again in anoither 2 months...
better on the credit rating anyway...

My personal credit card application was rejected for the same reason. However, I did get the business card.
Answer
I was approved for the 20K no fee card about a month ago, and just received the 25K no fee card yesterday, along with the 15K no fee AMEX ;-).
So I dunno about 60 day limit, but I received 3 cards in about 30 days.
Answer
The letter from Citi says there is limited number of Citi credit cards one can get within 60 days. Based on my experience, that magic number is three, at least in my case anyway.
Answer
I have applied and canceled 3 times. I only wait 30 days between with no problems so far.

Answer
Not true, I actually received around 4 cards in 45 days.
Notice I said "at least in my case". I am not surprised if Citi determines the number of new credit cards in 60 days on a person to person basis. Remember the letter says "limited number" of CC, not a certain number.
Answer
I am not sure on an exact number. I would guess they would do as you say and issue based on each persons credit score and income.
