citicards has a referral program (https://www.accountonline.com/ACQ/Apply?MGMSolicit=Y&siteId=CB), through which I used to refer my friends to apply PP elite, they got the usual 15k bonus points and I got 5k pts for each approved account. Sometime this month Citicards secretly changed the rule of the game so that anybody who applies for a PP elite through referral now gets ONLY 10k pts rather than the 15k if he applies directly. I can imagine how angry one would be if he was referred and applied and later found out that his well deserved 5k pts, which are to be matched with another 5k flight pts, were virtually 'stolen' by a friend! While on the other hand his friend referred him out of good will and may not know about this dirty trick by citi at all.

I can see how you think that is tricky however they will state something like this
Due to changes in our refferral program we have since change the amt of miles one will recieved per outlined at the website
and of course how many read the fine print or customer agreements
