I have a 15k credit limit...but I need to purchase a 30k item. The vendor will let me split the payment into 2 installments a few days apart. Can I charge 15k, then pay off the balance, then have them charge the remaining 15k balance all in the same billing cycle? Also, will I earn 30k miles for this purchase? Thanks.

I do this all the time. I have a $10K limit, but I routinely go over that in miles earned. One billing cycle I managed to rack up 57,000 miles... :D

Really can't answer your question, but here in Germany the banks allow you to make a deposit into your credit card account which increases your limit to whatever level you might need. The deposit even gets interest. I do this often with my LH VISA and get the miles...
