Searched and only saw one other dead thread, sorry if I missed a good source on this somewhere.
I got a letter offering the "upgrade" from Gold to Plat Citi MC. Looks like it will cost me the extra $35 a year, in return I get slightly reduced mileage awards, price protection, trip cancellation protection, and a Free Companion Certificate...
My question is, what's a certificate like that really worth. Are they easy to use, if I typically fly flights right in the 300 range?

Nobody can help me out here? Someone must have gotten one of these certificates before. I have some info on the back of the offer, but a lot of what it says is that info will come with the card.
