Question
I received a letter that says:

You're now approved to "upgrade" your account to the Chase PRESTIGE Credit Card!
Due to your Chase Credit Card standing, we are pleased to inform you that you have become eligible to upgrade to elite-level account status... to the Chase Prestige Credit Card.
[...]
Your new status will bring you an unparalleled line-up of 18 valuable benefits. Here are just a few of them:
- Membership in Rewards Network, which gives you 20% off your entire bill at more than 7,000 participating restaurants nationwide. [sounds similar to my Diners Club]
[...]
- 5% cash back on all U.S. hotel rooms, airline tickets, car rentals and cruises. [very interesting for me]
[...]
------------------------------------------
All this for $79/year.
Nowhere does it say which of my 3 Chase cards (Cash Plus Reward, United, Continental) is upgradeable... There's also no phone number to call to get more info, just a card to return my acceptance.
Has anyone heard of this offer before?
Answer
Google found two links that you may wish to read...
http://edumacation.com/ChasePrestigeCreditCard
http://www.complaints.com/directory/2004/september/19/17.htm
...suggesting that this offer is not actually from Chase.
FWIW, Rewards Network is the operator of the Diners Club restaurant program, and also the mileage earning dining programs offered by many airlines.

Answer
Thanks for finding this info. I had done a search on flyertalk but not on google.
I just noticed in the fine-print: the travel bookings must be done through them in order to get the 5% cash back.
Into the trash this goes...
