I would like to upgrade my signature card to platinum, but when I called to do so they said that I would not be getting any bonus miles or anything. Is anybody aware of a a current promo code or method of upgrading so that you can get some bonus miles?? Thanks!

Yeah - no luck with that as well, but what I did do is I just kept my regular UA Signature card and then applied for a Platinum UA card concurrently. Then, you can cancel your original one (after 6 months so you don't lose the bonus miles). This works as long as you're willing to get an entirely different account number. You'll get the bonus miles. I currently have two UA cards (UA Sig and UA Sig Plat), and my wife has one (UA Sig).

By the way, in december they have just reintroduced the promotion for signature to platinum!!

Oh ya, I forgot to say that it is targeted, but I know of at least one person who asked for the upgrade with the mile bonus who got it (and he was not targeted.

if you upgrade, you get 5000 eqm's, whereas if you apply for platinum (there is link on flyertalk) you get 25000 miles.

Does anyone know if is possible to open a new account (20k mile offer) from chase when you currently have a gold account? I just to have the first usa platinum card but since I didn't want to pay annual fee they gave a gold card instead. Now I would like to take advantage of that 20k offer but I don't know if I have to close the other account first. I really don't want to do it since is one of my two credit accounts that have the longest history. I would like to get the platinum for six months and cancel it.
Thanks for the advice? My current score is 800, what impact would that have on it?

yes you can, it is a different card and a different account. same way that you can get an amazon card even though it is also from chase

The benifit to "upgrading" is that you keep the same card #, so you dont have to spend all the time switching your autopays....

if that is more important to you than the 25,000 miles. for me personally, the 25,000 mile offer means more.
