For the past 2 weeks I got two invites for their so called exclusive private pass events. The first one was for complimentary tickets to the broadway play Rent and the second one was for wine tasting with Josef Riedel (both in NYC).
These complimentary tix are on first come first serve basis . The Rent tickets were all booked, but I was fortunate enought to get the wine tasting.
Have any of you guys gotten these invites in the pass? Are these really that exclusive? And also, why am I getting them? I'm figuring its because my annual fee is coming up (december) and they are sending these out to appease people.

I live in Manhattan. I have the Citi AAdvantage Platinum (non business). I am also not a high spender either. I rarely use my card. My spending pattern is usually, $300 one month, and then maybe $1000 the next. Sometimes I do a $5,000 to 8,000 in one month. But thats very rare. Total yearly charge on the card is probably not even close to $20,000.
And what I'm confused about is that I get my fees comp through Citi Gold. So they don't even need to try to appease me b/c I'm not going to pay the annual fee regardless.
And I called their special # to RSVP, they didn't even ask for my CC#, just my full name and address.

Fell lucky I have my fee's waived on my card as I have Citigold Private bank account. Same thing as normal Citigold more or less except a couple of extra benfits balance requirement is a little higher. I never been invited to anything from by Citibank. Except to lunch by my personal banker and a couple times to play golf.
