Question
from money.cnn.com:
EmigrantDirect, for its part, will launch a new credit card in mid-November that the company said will have the "highest cash-back rebate in the country" for those with online accounts, the company said in an e-mail to clients.
Online savings account with EmigrantDirect currently offers 4% interest, so you're not giving up anything. I'll be interested to find out more details.
Answer
I have yet to see any more details of this offer. There is nothing at emigrantdirect.com, but I am not a customer of emigrant direct.
Are there any emigrant direct customers out there who have received details of this offer?

Answer
It's available now: http://www.juniper.com/app/japply/lp/15120.jsp?obchannel=005&campaignid=0000538&obcreative=0000000&obadloc=001&listid=00000&ibchannel=03&siteid=0000000000&clickid=0000000000
Overview:
1.25% cash back on everything, no annual cap, deposited twice yearly into your EmigrantDirect savings Account
Must have EmigrantDirect Savings Account with average daily balance > $10,000 to get the 1.25% rate. The current APY on the savings account is 4.0%
So overall, it's not that great. It's not even as good as a plain old Citi Cash Rewards Card up to the $300 annual cap, and nowhere near as good as most of the points-based programs (SPG, ThankYou Network, etc) that folks here tend to use. Kind of a disappointment considering all the boasting from EmigrantDirect.
Answer
Right, I was quite disappointed too. They promised the highest cash back card. They don't even match the MBNA Fidelity card. That card is 1.5% back, no min balance to get that rate, and quarterly deposits (though $50 min). And they no longer even have the highest savings rate (HSBC is at 4.25%), so I wouldn't be parking my money there for that...

Answer
The offer is now up to 1.4% rebate provided you keep an average balance of at least $10K in an Emigrant savings account over a six-month period since the rebate amount is credited semi-annually. An important thing to note is that rebate amounts only accumulate on the primary cardholder and that name has to be the primary account holder on the savings account. Hence, no credit is given for supplemental card holder purchases.
