Spoke to a nice gentlemen who said I should get 15000 miles if approved with no annual fee for the first year. Can get 2500 more if I add someone after I get the card.

I tried to activate my card today and they told me they are charging me an annual fee.
I told them I called the no. on the worldperks travel magazine and when I applied for the card, the guy who took down my application said there was no annual fee and they said they'll have to send it to customer service for a decision.
They can't even honor the offer in their magazine..
Anybody have a copy of the that offer and can fax it to me??..I'd really appreciate it.

Can confirm the offer is still valid...and more (just not sure how important, though, considering the seemingly hit and miss nature of these offers).
Applied for a card 3 weeks ago in both my mother's and my name. Called the number and used x 1062. The guy was extremely helpful and if said "wow, I didn't know this offer existed". He even spoke to a supervisor who verified it.
Long story short, we received our cards two weeks ago and it says right on the letters that the cars were attached to "no fee first year".
Considering I had cancelled both of our cards last oct, I was wondering if we would still receive the bonus miles.
Activated the cards, and made a small purchase on each, and lo and behold 15k credited yesterday already without ever having received a statement yet.

Good info - I was concerned that this was a little bit dated. I just applied last night and my concern is that I had cancelled my card sometime last year. The service person taking the call indicated that it had been more than three months and that if accepted I would be elegible for the bonus points and the waiving of the 1st year. Got her extention etc. and we'll see. Thanks for the posting!

With the current promotion, I will receive 10K upon enrollment (regular Visa plat) and another 10K 15 months from now.
The only thing that's stopping me is the $55 annual :(

Call and sign up over the phone via 1062. I just did 2 days ago and the offer was still valid. Plus you can sign up for visa signature and platinum cards and that way get 25K for free.

I did the x1062 and only 10,000 of the stated 15,000 posted. Did everyone else have the 15,000 post as one amount, or was it split up 10,000 and 5,000? United posts the entire amount in one entry, but I know Delta AMEX bonuses are sometimes posted as two different entries.

Did anyone else get stuck with a 10,000 mile sign up bonus even though the CSR said you were enrolled for the 15,000 + 2,500 offer? They're telling me I never signed up for the offer even though it was verified at the time of enrollment.
Edit: When I called they said this was the Platinum Bonus and that I should have applied for the Signature to get the 15,000... I said I did apply for the Signature, did anyone else get downgraded for whatever reason?

The downgrade is the result of your credit check. What they dont tell you on the phone (which they should by the way) is that if you dont qualify for signature they will automatically attempt to qualify you for the platinum. I am not sure I would have done it had I known that.

DW and I applied for the WP Signature Visa card (which is harder to get because it requires a higher income, etc), over the phone, about a week ago. First the rep. said she couldn't find the 15K miles, w/no fee first year, offer. I asked her to look up offer/ext. 1062 and after a minute she came back on and said she had found it. After my DW applied I also applied. DW's card arrived today and it is the stinking Platinum Card which only gives you 10K miles and the letter with it says there is a $55 annual fee. What a bunch of crap. Our income is plenty high to qualify for the Signature Card (over $30K) and our credit is great. What's the deal? Could it be because she had a WP Visa card about a year ago and cancelled it 10 months ago? Or just incompetent employees?
I'll wait til mine arrives and then call to see if we can get it straightened out. I wonder which card I'll receive, if any? :)

US Bank and specifically their CC department are plagued by this kind of thing. It's happened to me and many others who have written about it in the NW forum. Even though they fouled it up you’re unlikely to get it resolved to your satisfaction. It gives DW a good reason to cancel the card after the bonus posts though.
On another note, US Bank will have an actual person look up the card history with them if it fails to get the instant approval. The person will then decline the new card and offer to "re-open" the old one if it has been less then 12 months since the last card was closed. It is amazing that it has been only 10 months and DW received the new card.

Received letters from the bank saying they could NOT increase our credit limit because of income. Well, we never asked for an increase in our credit limit, just a flippin' Signature card. I promply got on the phone and called CS and explained what happened. He put me on hold for a couple minutes and came back and said that "Yes, we can send you the Signature card". Finally. What a disaster of a company.

So I gladly applied for Platinum instead of Signature Visa and just got card today. With annual fee waived for the first year :)

They were giving us 10k instead of 15k and I called them to fix things. They said they had no record of a 15k offer so I pointed them to the website. Then they told me to proceed, I will need to fax them in a copy of the website!!!! This is 2006 and we are faxing websites :D
