Continental Chase card scam

Question
I was offered a Continental One Pass Chase card last August. It promised a $99 companion certificate at the 6 month anniversary of the card. I have been trying to get this certificate since February. Chase blames CO, CO blames Chase, and I still have no certificate and need to buy a ticket to Europe. I've given them one more week to get it to me or I will cancel the card. I am a heavy credit card user, 20K per month, and I generate a lot of revenue for Chase. They don't seem to care. I told CO that if they don't help, I'll buy my ticket on another airline since their CC partners don't honor what they promise.

I got mine just fine, but it is only for domestic use. I think it did take them longer than 6 months, more like 8 months, but received it. There are fare class restrictions and minimum purchase restrictions. I see it as a pretty much useless coupon.

I called Chase again on Monday and they tried to tell me I had to charge $5K to get the certificate. When I said I had a printed copy of the offer, they asked me to fax it in. Nowhere does it say anything about spending money or limiting the certificate to a domestic flight. I called again today to confirm they had received the fax, and it was "in the system being processed" whatever that means. If I ever get this dang thing I'll be amazed.

These are the terms I received, and are the terms that are available from Chase.com:
COMPANION TICKET: (For World MasterCard ardmembers only) Valid for one (1) $99 round-trip coach class companion ticket for travel within the 48 contiguous United States with the purchase of a round-trip ticket of $298 or more. A Saturday-night stay and 14-day advance ticketing are required. Valid on flights operated by Continental Airlines, Inc., and/or Continental Express, Inc., only. Not valid on code-share flights. Companion offer applies to new purchases only. Prepaid and previously purchased flights are not allowed. Blackout dates apply. All rules and travel restrictions of the purchased fare apply. Both tickets must be issued together for travel on the same dates and flights. Not combinable with any other travel certificate, OnePass reward or other discounted fare. Passenger is responsible for all taxes/fees/surcharges, including passenger facility charges of up to $12 depending on the routing, international departure tax, customs users/immigration fees, agricultural tax and airport security charges, and must pay them at the time of ticketing. Certificate has no cash or OnePass deposit value and may not be sold, bartered or purchased. Lost, stolen or destroyed certificates will not be replaced. OnePass mileage credit is allowed for purchased ticket; companion travel is not eligible for OnePass mileage credit. Continental’s Contract of Carriage applies to all travel. In the event of a flight irregularity, alternative travel will be provided only on Continental Airlines and/or Continental Express.
There are absolutely no spending requirements, at least during the time when I applied. I don't know how they came up with $5,000; but, I'm fairly certain I have not charged $5,000 in purchases on the card either. I highly doubt that you will be able to use it on an international flight. If your 6 month anniversary just passed, you can wait 2 more months because I received mine around my 8 month anniversary. Otherwise, just keep harassing Chase and see what happens. I'm dumping the card when my anniversary comes up as I have not had a very pleasurable experience with Chase.

Answer
in order to get that $99 companion cert. Plus it has an annual fee of $85, for a measely 15K Continental miles.
Who would want that when one can get 15K AA miles, without annual fee, or 20K UA miles without annual fee ?
Continental and Chase need to wake up.

I do. Let me explain why:
First of all, I fly frequently to AMS from JFK or EWR and SkyTeam is the only that fly directly. For domestic flights, I also usually fly Skyteam so UA and AA miles are nice, but not really helpful
15,000 Bonus -> Well... This is a close match to AA/UA's offer
OnePass Miles -> This is the same with all cc companies
$99 Companion Ticket -> I think this is pretty cool
President's Club® Passes -> Nice touch
5% Discount -> This is where the fun starts: I'm planning a flight to Hawaii and Amsterdam (2 tickets): the 5% will cover the $85... and MORE! So technically I will be making money out of this card. Yes, I have to fly CO but usually the difference is minimal (at least for me).
Just my $0.02!
