Thank you Network - 5x points all purchases next 90 days

Question
This is a Citi Universal MC which normally earns pretty worthless "Thank you Points" - 1 point for $1. I got the card for a $100 reward about 6 months ago and haven't used since.
For the next 90 days, they are awarding 5 Thank you points for every $1, on all purchases. Those add up quickly, and there are some rewards worth having at those levels. 10,000 points ($2000 charged) = $100 ExxonMobil gas card, for example. If used well, this will net about 5 cents in actual cash value per $1 spent, which is about as good as I've seen for a fee-free card.
Other rewards include Marriott and Ritz currency, restaurant gift certs, and travel. Max 75,000 points per calendar year. Sample rewards are available at thankyouredemptions.com.

Answer
ahhh, the only downside is 15k in purchases will get you 75k thank you points and end your use of the for the year. I hate when they limit your earning ability.

Is this a targeted offer? Or for all Citi TY cards?

nothing in the flyer i received indiated a targeted offer. I called the network and was informed it is 5x points on every dollar spent until 8/25/05.
So far, so good - first month's points posted as advertised.

Answer
I've got the City Professional MasterCard, but have not seen any bonus points. Do you need to call in to get it? (Better yet, is there an email address to send Qs to?)

I called the network and they said they never heard of this promotion. could you scan and host the brochure somewhere? (I can host if need be.)

Answer
Could anyone confirm this promo, and which cards it is good for?

Agree with poster above - can you scan or retype the wording in the ad? (e.g. Did you have to sign up for the promotion, does it cover all cards on TYN, etc?) My points are not showing up.

Answer
i will play with scanner tonight and try to pm a few of you. Mrs. psychtobe called and asked about her card, and they said she was qualified, but her qualifying period ended in July (somehow she didn't get a flyer).
The bonus points may take 1-2 billing cycles to appear; so far I've only received base points for my first bill.

Answer
On the inside of the last page of the LIFE, America's Weekend Magazine that came with my local newspaper on 7/15 is an ad for The Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card that earns ThankYou Points. The sign-up bonus is 5,000 bonus points, which can be redeemed for a $50 Gift Card at merchants such as Gap, Home Depot or Circuit City. What is interesting is that it is 5 ThankYou Points for every dollar spent at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations. It is conceivable that the 25,000 points needed for a airline ticket can be obtained for a total $5000 spent, which makes this card better than the AMEX *W, which was a $20,000 spend for a free ticket. If the bonus is used, then only $4000 spent the first year can possibly earn a ticket. A question someone asked earlier tho is that the ticket has to be redeemed through the Valley Travel Group. Anyone with experience on redeeming through this agency?
In case anyone is interested, www.apply.citicards.com (enter offer code F2G2) or 1-800-524-3158. No annual fee. Max 75,000 points per year.
In answer to an earlier question, what is to prevent someone from getting multiple cards to get around the max spend? Chase is offering a similar M/C offer with a $300 rebate per calendar year limit.

This is the same as the redemption program on Citi PremierPass. There is a little bit of discussion in the few threads for that card. In summary, availability seems pretty good in general though you don't get to choose the airline. Supposedly no dollar caps.

Answer
I have successfully scanned the original flyer for this offer into my email. If anyone wants to see it, PM me your email and I'd be happy to send it your way. For those who just want to hear (instead of see) what it says, I've typed some of the relevant language below:
Earn extra ThankYou Points on purchases for the next 90 days! (In order to qualify for this offer, your account must be open, not in default at all times. Bonus ThankYou Points may take 1 to 2 billing cycles to post. You may earn up to 75,000 TY Points in a calendar year.) Now there's more reason than ever to make your AT&T Unviersal Rewards Card the card you use most. Because for the next 90 days you will earn an extra 4 ThankYou points on your purchases.o be sure to use your card everywhere - for everything. Give your card a little workout and earn an extra 4 ThankYou Points.
(Note: I did contact both my card account and the Thank You Network, and they both confirmed the offer, and confirmed that I would earn 5 ThankYou Points per dollar spent - I asked this point specifically to make 100% sure they were not deceiving me into 4 TY Points per purchase. Since others here have called and asked about the offer and gotten the equivalent of blank stares, perhaps it was a targeted offer - though without any reference codes, I still doubt it).

Both the CitiDiamond Preferred and the AT&T Universal Rewards Card use the Thankyou Redemption Network. I obtained each of these cards with a bonus 10,000 points, but that was 9-12 months ago. Both of these cards offer 5 points for drugstores, supermarkets, and gas stations; the AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card does the same, but gives you cash instead of points (max $300 per year). I have all 3 of these cards; between the various offers that come and go, I'm usually earning an average net of 2 cents/points per dollar over the course of a calendar year.
Glad to hear the airline redemption is fairly easy; the network offers tickets to Mexico for 30,000 points = $6000 spending - a pretty great deal if the tickets can be obtained without too much challenge. In addition, gas cards are $100 for 10,000 points - so $300 in gas for $6000 spending is also not bad.

Answer
Thanks psychtobe.
Has anyone been able to get this award on the Citibusiness Premierpass card? I just opened such an account last month, and have heard nothing about this promotion.

Answer
ok. I get it now. I only have the regular citi professional MC, and hence probably do not qualify for this (even though it too uses thankyou points).

Answer
all points and bonus points for first month have posted, as advertised.
actually, even better than advertised: they are indeed giving 4 bonus points per dollar, meaning 5 points for most purchases and 9 points for gas, grocery, drug store.

Answer
I think you keep posting this to make us jealous. ;)
I'm guessing maybe they targeted you because you weren't using the card. So they put this promo your way to get you in the habit of using it.

Answer
>> I think you keep posting this to make us jealous.
:D
well, not exactly. mrs. psychtobe called and requested the same deal, and they said they have to research it and will get back ot us. If they agree, then certainly it would be in everyone's interest to call and give it a try. If not... well, I guess we were just lucky.

Answer
Everyone should check their statements. They can't seem to get the accounting right on these spending points and/or bonuses. You would think a credit card company, or someone they hire to run Thank You Rewards, would be able keep track of spending points. American Express's Membership Rewards is run so much better! I have had to request 2 special reviews with Citi and they still don't have the right balance! Is anyone else having this problem?

Answer
all our points (base and bonus) have posted within 2 days of statement closing date. the points are available for use and we have successfully redeemed some already.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Psychtobe's request was denied. They said they could not extend the promo (apparently, she had been eligible for 3 months in the spring - except they forgot to tell her. oops.). This week, interestingly enough, she was offered 5 bonus points on all purchases at department stores and clothing stores, and I did not receive this offer. So perhaps this was in response to her request.
