Question
Just a warning that Citibank and its ATT Universal Card are both extremely poor in following through on their bonus rebate.
1. I was promised an extra 1% (6% on groceries, pharmacy, gas, 2% on all else) for 90 days starting on 12/6/2005. The crediting stopped in Feb. I called Citibank and they are looking into and will credit me. I kept the letter.
2. I was promised 10% rebate on my ATT Universal Card if I used it to pay my ATT wireless bill through 7/2005. Didn't get the 10% in Jan, Feb, or Apr. Got it in March. I also kept the flyer.
If you get any promo's from any credit card, keep the flyer. I did and it's paying off. There is a disclaimer that Citibank can terminate the plan with 90 days notice - but I didn't receive any such notice.

I have heard of this issue with FTers in the Thank You Redemptions Program, particularly the Thank You Flight Credits. It really is a hassle that you need to harass Citi about the proper credits, especially since it is advertised.

Yes... the extra 1% has been discussed before... It appears that Citibank bank wanted to increase the usage of their credit cards to dress up their quarterly reports.

When I called to cancel my AA Mastercard, I was switched to this card instead with promise by the retention specialist that I'll get 5% on the typical (gas, groceries, drugstore, att services), plus for 3 month promotional period I get 5% on _everything_.
For the past two months, I've gotten only 1% rebate on the card. When I called to complain, they just say my records show I'll only get 1% on everything--including gas/groceries etc, and they'll put through an inquiry to see what happened.
By now the 3 months periods is already over, I get plenty of other cards that'll return me 5% without the hassle, and cards from Chase even frequently give me the 5% on everything promotions, so definitely this will be one to cancel.
:td: and yes definitely watch out for this card, they don't seem to follow through.

Add me to the list of disappointed customers of this card product. There was a holiday 5% credit promotion and they just wouldn't fulfill it. I still have the promotional brochure and I am thinking of means to hold them responsible.

Keep the promo material. You may be asked to fax a copy to Citibank. Perhaps it's time to contact Eliot Spitzer.
