Question
I am happy that Starwood and MBNA have partnered up to finally offer Canadian's a card that earns SPG points.
I know that the card is new and there are going to be growing pains but MBNA has been operating in Canada since November 1997. That would make it 8 years now. So you would think that they would have a on-line presence that does not look like it was created in a garage and run by high school students.
If MBNA wants to attract the savy business card holder then they need to wake up and start offering the basics such as access to account activity via their website! Also I think for Platinum SPG Mastercard holders they should offer 1 SPG point for every dollar spent at a Starwood hotel...
Does anyone else have any ideas/comments/suggestions on how MBNA can improve?
I intend on printing this forum and mailing to their marketing dept.
Answer
MBNA Canada doesnt have any online banking service. I'm supposed to complain why there are online access in UK and States, but Canada. Moreover, each Canadian cardhold cant have two account. I had to switch my Ebay Plat to Starwood Plat. This is really stupid, dude.
Answer
MBNA Canada should really have a website for account activity, transactions, etc... Every other company and or bank in Canada already does... even Citibank...Also, MBNA interest rates are very high....... they should have some services online, ATMs fees are also sky high and so are transfer fees...
WE NEED ONLINE SERVICES, its 2005!
Secondly, we should be given the SPG Gold Status when we have the MBNA SPG Mastercard, don't they have that with the US AMEX? Maybe MBNA could give us the gold status if we would agree to pay an annual fee. I would not mind paying an annual fee if MBNA would give us more perks (SPG Gold Status).
Since I had my SPG MBNA M/C, I am very pleased with the service from the people at the MBNA customer service center. They are polite and friendly, but some of them are sometimes less informed or easily confused when I ask questions regarding my account...New employees i guess...
But overall customer service is slightly above average compared to Visa or other M/C issuer...
Anyone is with me on these issues?
Answer
I am with you on Everything you said.
Especially on status. I am a Platinum with SPG already so that woudl not benefit me. But I think that is very reasonable.
The 1:1 ratio on $ spent at SPG I think is also reasonable.
The CSR seem a bit confused and do give out mixed messages. Although they are very friendly. I don't think MBNA has given them all the correct info/tools to service most calls regarding first stay bonus etc...
Now On-line Issue is number 1 complaint!!!
