Question
I have the Chase Continental Airlines Platinum MasterCard but I’m finding no use in its OnePass program and the $65 annual fee is a waste.
I’m interested in the Chase Platinum with no annual fee. Is there anyway I could switch the current card to the Chase Platinum card without having two different accounts shown on my credit report?
I’m also curious: How do these two cards compare? Thanks.
Answer
I've switched between many cards with Chase, so I think you can switch from the Continental card to the Chase Platinum. You will see two accounts on your credit report, but the credit history does transfer from the old to the new account. So, the old account will show up as "closed at consumer's request" and the new one will have a new number, but have the same member since date as the old account.
