Bank One - no online-only statements?

Question
I've been approved for a British Airways Visa Signature, issued by Bank One (soon to be Chase, or is it already?) The card should arrive as soon as I return to the States.
Bank One has already given me access to "cardmemberservices.com," which seems like a well laid-out site, except there doesn't seem to be an option to receive statements online only. I like to reduce all the paper clutter and have online statements for all my other credit cards, since I pay them online anyway.
Does anyone know whether Bank One has a paper-suppression option?

Answer
I have not seen an on-line only option for my bank one card. I think your stuck with paper for the time being.

Answer
that is very antiquated technology especially for being 2005 (almost)

I don't know, still get a paper statement (as a reminder). I do all on-line and wait for a point/miles bonus offer to get on-line statements.

Answer
I e-mailed Bank One, and they finally got back to me with the reply that "sending out statements is required by federal law for all credit cards." Sure, but nowhere does the law state that those statements have to be on paper!
No big deal, since once the integration with Chase is complete there should be an option for online-only statements. Chase cards actively promote, and offer bonuses for, paper suppression.
Incidentally, I still haven't received the BA Visa card more than a month after having been approved...but I got my first statement yesterday in the mail for the $75 annual fee

Answer
Fleet is the same way. There is no online/e-mailed/electronic statement option. And even with the Bank of America merger, there is stil no option. I wonder if BoA also has no online/e-mail/electronic statement options.

BofA (at least in CA) offers all the usual online/e-mail/electronic statment options. Perhaps they just haven't intergrated Fleet completely yet.

FWIW, I was told before applying that the fee begins after the first year is completed. I called them and they waived the fee.

Are you referring to the US-issued card? Every other credit card I've had here with an annual fee has always charged it on the first statement.

Yes. U.S.-issued card from Bank One. Politely but firmly, I made it clear that I had no intention of paying the fee until after the first year. (Mind you, I was going on information that Bank One provided me, so I was solid in my position.)
During the call, if the individual absolutely won't waive the fee, then you could just ask to cancel the card instead. You're normally transferred to Retention who will either 1) waive the fee, 2) offer you the no-fee BA VISA (only 1 mile for every $2, or 3) tell you to pound sand. They offered me choices #1 and #2. YMMV.

The news reports have said integration by mid 2005.

Answer
We have had a BA Visa card for some years. We still get a statement in the mail but I check out our account everday on line. Isn't this deja vu all over again? We started out with Chase, which then changed to First USA which then changed to Bank One. I'm wearing a hole in my address book with all the erasings! Wish these banks would settle down.

Fleet will be integrated into the B of A franchise by 7/2005 -- at least that's what their exes have promised Wall Street...
