Question
I have held the HP Classic card for several months. I wanted to call to upgrade it to the platinum (for the extra bonus and the 2mi:$1 on HP tickets) but they said no dice because you have to hold a card 9 months before they can consider changes to your account.
I called 3x over this every few months, last time even got a rep who said she would ask the "Credit Department" to waive the last 2 months on the 9 month rule. She sounded very helpful, but then I received a form letter from the credit department a week later saying it was denied again for the 9 month rule, and try again once 9 months elapsed, they'd be happy to help me then.
Mind you, I have relatively good credit. (FICA score above 700).
Anyway, fast forward to yesterday. I get an offer in the mail in an HP FlightFund envelope. It appeared to be a targeted offer saying that due to my FF usage and Flight Fund Credit card I am also being offered the FF Platinum BUISNESS CARD for my "small buisness" It offered a credit line of $30,000, 5,000 bonus miles, and some complimentary club passes.
Sometimes it doesn't make sense. They'll turn me down for a platinum card because of some arcane 9 month rule, then send me a targeted mailing for a platinum buisness card. ARGH! :td:
