I received a mailer for the triple miles for certain purchases (groceries, dining out, etc.) promo that ran through 9/30 and was discussed in another thread. (My threshold was $650/month.)
Today, though, I received a mailing saying I can earn double miles on all purchases in these categories over $250/month from 10/1 through 12/31. Pretty smart--I was just thinking today that I need to stop using UAL for non-quick service restaurants (so I get triple points through that promo) and return to my *wood Amex for the bulk of my purchases. Now, though, I have to recalculate whether 2 UAL miles is worth more than 1 *point. Either way, though, I'm glad to see that some sort of UAL promo will continue through the end of the year, and that my threshold is lower for this one!

CheapSk8, can you take a look at the card and try to reference a PROMOTION NUMBER ? I called Bank One/United card CSR and they could not find any reference to a double miles promo.
In fact, they just ENDED a 3-mo promo over the summer. I would be surprised to see another one so close.
And/or can anyone else confirm a new promois upon us ?

I'll check when I get home for a promo number. I was amazed to see the mailer, too--I thought it was for the triple miles deal this summer because it is the same color scheme and stuff. I was targetted for the summer promo that ends today with a threshold of $650, but this one clearly says my threshold is $250, that you don't have to register ("you're already registered" or something), and that it is from 10/1 through 12/31. I did a search last night before I started this thread and couldn't believe I was the first one to post this!
Tonight I'll post the exact terms--should've stuck it in my briefcase!
