Citi Platinum lounge access

Question
There are some ads posted in airports around Asia talking about airport lounge access for Citi Platinum card holders. Does anyone know about this benefit, I assume for Citi Asian card holders. I'm flying out of Denpasar tomorrow and wondering if it might work on my Citi ATT platinum card (or maybe I can bluff it?).
Diners shows no lounge access in DPS and my NW WorldClub doesn't seem to work either or I may try access to the KLM contract lounge.
Thanks.

Answer
I was wondering the same thing. I am going to DPS soon and noticed that they have a Citi Platinum lounge. I called Citibank here in the states and inquired about their lounges, but they didn't know ANYTHING about it (they've never heard of the Citibank lounges...)
I suspect that this is a perk for the Asian Citi cards, but please let us know whether you were successful in gaining entry with your US Platinum Citi card, OK?

Answer
Lounge access in a bunch of airports is a benefit for Citibank Gold (and I assume Platinum) cards issued in Asia. This benefit does not apply to co-branded cards so you most likely won't get access with your Citi AT&T or Citi AAdvantage cards...although if you have a standard Citi Gold/Plat card issued outside of Asia, it might work.

Answer
Yes, I have a Citibank Platinum Visa Card issued in Thailand (not the States). It allows me entry into various lounges like SQ First Class lounge at Bangkok airport and various other lounges that I havent identified yet...I dont think this applies to cards issued in the States because they (SQ counter attendants) checked the card (I think identifying origin) when politely allowing me entry.
By the way, my Citibank Gold card co-branded with Thai Airways (issued in Thailand), allows me entry into the TG Business Class lounge (regardless of the ticket I am holding)..I was really surprised when I saw this in the lounge at BKK airport (I get in anyways because I fly more often than not in *A Business Class and if not I have TG Gold status). I apparently also have privileges with only the Citibank Gold Visa for entry into various lounges in Asia and certain lounges in the US. Again, they check the origin of the card when allowing entry (I specifically asked the counter attendants at the TG lounge last week).

Answer
Trajan - how did you apply for this card? Is it only available for Asian residents, or can US-based residents apply for it as well?

Answer
Well I tried it out at the DPS lounge last night (a shared lounge adjacent to gates 7-9). My ATT co-branded Citi card did not work, but I think if I'd had a card that had the new Citi logo on it, I would have gotten in. However I was granted entrance for the grand total of 100,000 Indonesian Rupiah, about $10. The lounge isn't bad -- pretty comfortable furniture, very gracious attendants, clean bathrooms (although I expect that all the bathrooms in the International terminal were clean), an open bar and some snacks -- not on the par with Air New Zealand in AKL, but better than NW or CO in the US -- an Indonesian chicken noodle soup, some fried snacks (spring rolls and corn fritters), finger sandwiches, cake and cookies. An espresso machine, beer, soft drinks.
Its worth a try.
Also interesting to note that Diners Club, owned by Citi doesn't grant lounge access in DPS or HKG.

sorry dbielik, I dont know if US-based residents can apply, but you might try this website and asking them :) <http://www.citibank.com/thailand/thai/index.htm>

Answer
I forgot to add that with my Citibank Platinum Visa issued in Thailand, I have access to (quoting from the benefits book):
a. "first-class lounges of WorldClubs at airports in the USA, the Philippines and South Korea simply by presenting [my] Citibank Platinum Card at the counter."
b. "the first-class Louis Tavern lounges at Bangkok International Airport."
c. "the first-class lounge of Cathay Pacific at Bangkok International Airport."
I probably wont use the foregoing lounges much as I concentrate on Star Alliance airlines, but its nice to know they are available (even if Im not flying NWA or SQ). I tried SQ First Class lounge in Bangkok and it was nice, but I prefer the TG Business Class (newly renovated) in Bangkok anyway.

Trajan - just out of curiosity, how much does that Thai Citi Platinum cost annually?

I forgot exactly (must check the statements) but definitely less than the equivalent of USD100 per year (in Thai Baht).....
