My wife just received her new UA VISA card last week. There was a 5k referral bonus available sometime ago. I "searched", but could not find the link. Is it too late for me to claim the bonus? If not too late, I would appreciate any advice and link to the offer.

It may be too late.
I got this 5,000 miles when Mrs. USAFAN applied ... :cool:
The number (on the voucher) to call was 1-800-297-4691!

Gaijin: I'd also been told by BankOne that the referral has to take place at the time of activations, but please let me know if you're able to convince them otherwise!
I recently convinced a colleague to apply for the card, and he was going to list me as a referral, but then jumped the gun when he got a preapproved offer in the mail for a the free companion ticket version of the promo...
When his card arrived, he showed me how he'd followed my advice. :rolleyes: I almost felt bad pointing out all the reasons why the companion ticket isn't worth as much as 15k or 20k miles, as I'd "recommended" the card. And no miles for me either! :p Oh well, it's just water under the bridge...

Thanks for the welcome, folks!
I did throw in my request for points at the time Mrs. Gaijin activated the card. The CSR took down my info, and advised she'd pass it on. I nudged her to give me a firm answer on the points, but she told me she can only pass on the info. Let's see what happens in 6-8 weeks.
On another subject, I was able to persuade them to waive my $60 annual fee a few months ago. I had called and asked the card company to waive the fee, and advised them I was a 1P. They instantly agreed to refund my paid fee. I'm turning into a points and freebie addict, thanks to this community!! ^

I just got the UA card on the promotion with the 15,000 sign-up miles and the annual fee waived for the first year. Now I'm wondering if I can refer friends to get the 5K bonus without them having to pay the annual fee either. I tried doing this with one, but she said when she called the phone number, they said they don't ever waive the fee...my friends wouldn't think I'm being friendly if they have to pay the fee for the same card I just signed up for without a fee!

A friend applied for the card online. I called up MP Visa after his first purchase and they gave me the 5,000 mile referral bonus.
