I just applied for the Royal Bank (Canada) Avion card. I was expecting a 10,000 signing bonus for the current promotion but the rep mentioned that they have a new promotion in May for any current CIBC Aerogold members where they are offering an additional 5,000 points to entice people to start using Avion and stop using Aeroglod. She said it's close enough to May so she offered me this bonus! That's a total of 15,000 points for signing! Enough for a free short haul flight or these can be converted 1:1 to 15,000 AA Advantage miles or 15,000 BA miles! The annual fee is $120CDN

I signed up in October for 5,000 points.
And now they are offering 15,000?
Tell me am I being selfish or do you feel that I should be entitled to the extra 10,000?
And if so, how woudl you suggest that I go about getting the adjustment?

I just got off the phone with Avion, and with a little persuasion they added the 10,000 point to my account as a one time customer service gesture. BUT I was told that if next month's promotion is 20,000 points, do NOT come a knocking...

I received my first statement and it only had a 10K bonus. However, Customer Service advised that I will receive the next 5K Aerogold bonus on my next statement. Maybe they want the annual fee to be paid before giving out the extra 5K?

I just upgraded from an RBC Visa Gold Preffered to an RBC Visa Plat Avion.
I received my card, I did got the 10k points bonus from the May promotion + the transfer of my points balance from my gold.
Question : My card # did change for a new one, but my expiry date is the same, which is April next year. I think it's strange to issue a new card for only 10 months.
Any ideas ?

Welcome to FT!
They'll probably send you a new card when your current one expires so you'll still get 12 months with the Avion. You could always call them to confirm this

Keep your eyes open - last December(2003) and in June 2002 Avion offered 2 for points transfer to BA. I had a friend who transferred 245,000 points and got 490,000 BA points. The promo opens for about 1-2 months so you should check their website every once in a while
