Question
... or more appropriately, "I just want the correct card!"
I got a phone call from a Bank One/First USA rep. whom I have a Mileage Plus "Gold Glass" Visa card with. She begins the conversation with, "Sir, why do you want to downgrade (emphasis is mine) your Visa Signature card to the "Gold Class" card? I see that you have requested a Gold Class card."
I was lost for words for a brief moment, before I recovered and then for the next few minutes, explained to the rep. that:
1. The "Gold Class" is not a downgrade from the regular "Visa Signature" card; this page (http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?pdn=united_lp01&mkid=6L6X&page=cont) shows the various Mileage Plus Visa cards offered;
2. That I had "upgraded" to the Gold Class (http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?pdn=united_signature_gold_class&mkid=6L6X&page=cont) back in either February or March of this year, paid the $85 annual fee, received the double miles for United purchases;
3. I just want to be sent the correct card! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
The funny (or maybe sad?) thing is that ever since I upgraded to the Gold class card, First USA/Bank One sent me the wrong card--instead of the card with the words, "gold class" embossed below "Mileage Plus" print, they had sent me another Mileage Plus Visa Signature card. So I'd call Customer Service, verified that I am indeed a "Gold Class" account holder, and yes, they'd send me another replacement and correct card. And about two weeks later, I get .... the wrong card again. And again. And again.
And now this call.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with First USA/Bank One to date, but is it too much to ask and receive the correct card?

I've not done the Gold Class thing, but is there really a difference in the cards physically? Actually, I don't know why they would send you a new one if there weren't a difference, but you should be getting the double miles anyway, regardless of what it says on the card. I only brought this up because I have a standard MP Visa (Visa Signature) and an MP Rewards Visa (Visa Signature) that look identical. The only difference is that MP Rewards is free and earns only half the miles. (The reason I have both is I signed up for a new standard card with 20k miles bonus. See the UA forum for how to get it. They don't seem to care if you have two cards, so you can grab a 20k bonus possibly multiple times.)

I guess the fourth time's the charm (and almost a year later since first receiving the incorrect card) as yesterday, USPS delivered a replacement card and lo and behold, it was finally the correct card! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I have to say that the regular "Visa Signature" and the "Gold Class Visa Signature" are distinguishable by two factors: the latter has a golden'ish tint depending on the lightin g conditions and the words, "gold class" below the print "Mileage Plus". Perhaps that explains why they kept sending the wrong card three times in a row?

I recently changed my First USA card to the Gold class MP card. I sure hope I do not have those kinds of problems. I seem to have a very low tolerance level for mistakes made during the issuance of a card.
