Question
I just closed my US Bank Check Card account after 4 years. I received my 4000 mile bonus when I opened it and never had a problem until February of this year when I was charged an unauthorized payment from a company I had previously made two purchases from. This put my account into negative balance which took a whole day of phoning around. The mistake was finally admitted by the business and they credited it back within a week and paid all the overdraft costs. However this happened one day before leaving on a family vacation and I was very, very concerned that this could easily happen while we were on vacation and lost all access to whatever money I deposited into this account.
Also I never did receive the 1000 mile WP Visa for receiving e-mails that I signed up for in December of 2001, despite sending many e-mail inquiries and phone calls always getting the runaround between WP Visa and US Bank.
My question : If I wanted to open up a new WP Check Card account at US Bank in the future to get another 4000 mile bonus how long should I wait before doing this ? Or is my WP account # only allowed to do this once ?

With the NW Visa card, it's a 1 year wait. I cancelled mine in Jan 2003, tried resigning-up in March, they told me that I had to wait a year because the account is held in their systems and if you reactivate it, you just get your old account back.

If this promo is still avalable in a year from now do you think I would get the 4000 mile sign up bonus if I open a new account with the same WP # ?
