The program kicks off by offering cardmembers double miles for all purchases charged on the Mileage Plus Visa card at restaurants and home-improvement stores from Jan. 1, 2003, through Feb. 28, 2003. There's no need for cardmembers to enroll as they automatically receive double miles just by using their card.

Yes. I believe Bank One bought out First USA and took First USA name. However, recently it's rolling back First USA in favor of Bank One...

Just FYI on this, Bank One has been parent of First USA for some time (a few years at least). They never took the First USA name, they just kept using it alongside the Bank One name. Bank One is one of the largest banks in the country, and they have retail bank operations in some states as well as the other types of ops of a big bank. First USA was largely a credit card issuer (in the same vein as MBNA). It looks like they could be eventually dropping the First USA brand. Interestingly, the UA cards fully obscure the bank branding anyway. The statements only give away First USA in the payment address and on the back. The card only gives it away on the back as well.
Anyway, I got this flyer, and the doubles at restaurants and home improvement stores are good through 3/31. One thing no one has mentioned, yet, is that you can get double miles for tax payment through Official Payments. They charge for paying that way, of course, but with double miles it can be worth it.
