Question
I've had a First USA Visa (Yale Value Miles)for a long time, but haven't attempted to redeam any miles yet. I thought I'd attempt to redeem a 6,000 pt. hotel reward. The posts below and links to comments on First USA and Value Miles worry me a bit...
I went to redeem rewards for a certificate for Courtyard by Marriot hotels, and was informed that I could *pay* to have it sent through traceable, UPS mail, or could get it for free through US mail, but that the latter option was not recommended, as the reward might be "lost." Yes, they actually put "lost" in quotation marks.
So, finally, my question is, has anyone actually gotten a hotel award from First USA Value Miles through the US postal service? From what others have written, this company has a tendancy towards sleaze, and I'm wondering whether or not they actually *do* mail the reward certificates to those that refuse to pay to have them shipped, or whether they just don't bother to mail them, and cover themselves by saying, "oh well, I guess it got "lost" in the mail..."
