Stay far,far away from First USA

Question
Against my better judgement I applied for an Amazon.com card today with First USA Bank. I had problems with them in the past with both my United Airlies and Egghead cards and swore I would never use them again.
The Amazon card said you get an instant $30 off your next purchase and instant acceptance (or rejection). I applied and got the message my application would take up to 30 days to process, but I should be sure to use my $30 discount (which I won't get till my application is approved) by Feb 15th.
I called the phone number it showed for problems and told them I couldn't possibly use my $30 off by Feb 15th because my card wouldn't be approved by then. I was told that this promotion has been going on for quite some time and that it was my own fault for waiting so long to apply for the card. I asked why the $30 credit was stil being advertised today if you couldn't use it and was told that she didn't know, but that some people may still be approved instantly. I gave up.
First USA Bank is without a doubt the worst credit card bank I have ever dealt with and I encourgae everyone to never apply for a card from them no matter how good it sounds.

Answer
I have had numerous cards with FUSA and have had NO problems. They have been great to deal with. Sorry your experience has been poor.

I'll second that. I have nothing but problems with them so canceled, or so I thought. Try getting them to cancel your account, it's a nightmare. I canceled my account with them and 5 years later I got a bill for $400 charged to the account that supposedly had been canceled. They had NO record of the account being canceled and I spent months filling out forms and such to get the $400 charge reversed. To cancel the account they then reported the card stolen and then issued me a new card and account.
"I don't want your ##$% card!!!!" Canceled this one too but knowing there track record it probably isn't. Good news is the number isn't out there floating around somewhere from a previous use. I will never ever and I mean ever do business with them again I don't care if they offer me two airline tickets anywhere in the world to sign up. It's not worth it.

Answer
I'll third that.
Numerous mistakes, numerous follow up due to customer service saying they would do one thing yet never did.
A big waste of my time for simple mistakes that should not have been made in the first place.

Answer
First USA is the WORST!
I was charged an extra 3% for using my card at a supply company. Not knowing this was illegal until I read it here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif, I contacted First USA. They "investigated" and the seller said it was a "delivery fee". BS. When First USA came back to me and told me what they said, my response was "of course they're not going to admit it, they KNOW it's against the rules."
Live and learn I guess. Perhaps the customer is not always right.

Answer
I have 2 cards from First USA ad they jacked up the interest rate on one to 23%. They would not tell me why when I called and sent me a letter. Turns out that they jacked it up because my mother (at the same address) filed bankruptcy and I was an authorized user on the account. I tried to tell them it was not my bankruptcy. That account is now closed. Funny thing is they did ot change my other account OR raise the interest rate on their card that my mother kept open!!

I had the same issue with them. Ended up having to cancel the same freakin' card 3 times over the course of 2 years 'cos they kept trying to charge me the annual fee on the UA Mileage Plus card that I had cancelled. After cancelling that card 3 times they converted me to the no annual fee UA card which offer 2 miles/US$ which I DID NOT WANT. Had to cancel that one twice.
Avoid First USA like the plague
