Question
I'm considering signing up for one of the Citibank AAdvantage cards -- mainly just waiting around hoping a good signup bonus will come along one of these days.
For those of you who already have this card, how is their website? Do they provide online payment capabilities? How long does it take for charges you make to appear on the website? I like to be able to keep track of my spending online rather than waiting around for the statements, so this is important.
Any other observations or horror stories? I'm already aware of the high international surcharges from reading some of the other threads.
Thanks,
-chris
Answer
I've had one going on 10 years and won't part with it. They currently have a promo that'll get you 5k bonus miles and me too. If you're interested, email me at the address in my profile.
As far as the website goes, I think it's fine. Yes you can pay there (I don't, so I can't tell you how good/bad it is).

Not sure where I'm going, but I'm getting there fast.
Answer
Well, I could get 8K according to the TV ads but I'm waiting around, hoping for a 10K offer. If a better referral offer comes along, let me know. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Answer
The way this deal is structured, I get 5k for each up to 2 that sign up. Each of the people I refer get 5k.
I don't know if you could get any referals or not in the same fashion.
I'll send the thing to the email in your profile, you can use it or trash it.

The web site (www.citicards.com) is pretty good .. they do offer online payment (I've never used it) and charges show up in a day or two, generally.

Hi Chris, I use the online payment every month, it's quite handy. If you make your payment (EFT from your bank checking/savings account) before 1 PM Central Time, it gets posted that same day. If it's past 1 PM, the payment is posted first thing the next day. I like this b/c I can keep money in my interest earning bank account a little longer than if I had paid via check.
Answer
You can also use "Virtual Account #s" so that you don't have to use your actual CC # for your online transactions. Also, you can register more than 1 citi card (so that you can view them together in the same login session). Charges after the statements posting appear in the Unbilled Activity area.
Should you change your checking account linked to this account, you can change the information online itself.
All in all, the site is pretty decent.

The citicards.com site is very sexy. What I did was link my cards with my Citi checking account and I just transfer between them. There is a nice lag though between sites, which is confusing to me...

Citibank has probably the most sophisticated and the most daunting financial site on the Web with multiple poins of entry.
I happened to have a multiple credit cards, savings and checking account; last year they bought my mortgage.
Anyway, here's their Credit Card access page:
https://www.citibank.com/us/cards/index.jsp
It has a regular "pull" payment system which I never use because:
This one is based on or Citicard # (check card), it allows you to link all your accounts. You can even pay your bills in real time - I mean it, use transfer feature (not payment !) and pay CC and mortgage on the last day with no problems:
https://web.da-us.citibank.com/signin/citifi/scripts/login2/user_setup.jsp
This one also has "push" bill payment feature.
I know of at least three more ways to access accounts, but it gets too confusing ...

I find the Citi AA World MC product to be a very good one for $50 per year. I got 10,000 bonus miles when I signed up and that's what you should look for too.
I get little inserts in my bill all the time asking me to refer friends for 5,000 miles for me, 5,000 for them. I'd feel a little guilty asking a friend to take that deal.
The reasons I keep the card (other than the miles) are the online capabilities and the fact that I can almost always get straight through to a real customer service rep if I have a question. Most other banks have semireliable websites and make it much harder to get immediate access to a live human being to answer questions about my account.
Answer
The card is most handy if you bank with citibank. Move money from Checking to the credit card and it clears up the credit right away.

There's a thread in MilesBuzz! that talks about the Citi card. Someone mentioned they had just received an ad to get 10,000 bonus miles. I asked him to post more info...hopefully he does. The discussion is at http://www.flyertalk.com/milesfr.shtml
