Question
My friend/roommate is having a lot of trouble getting credit cards here.
She's using my home address as her address but Citi sent a letter to her saying that she does not have a US address. How would they know?? She put down my address in the application.
She's studying here so i told her to get a College Credit Card but i could not find a card with mileage earning perks...
any ideas is appreciated! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Answer
This one gets United miles - no annual fee. But it's $2/mile.

Answer
She should look up her credit report to find out what address it has and correct it.
Answer
Your friend might have to start out with a secured credit card until they build a credit history in the US.

Answer
Is it perhaps because she doesn't have a social security number and they see her as a visitor to the USA?

You might try Citibank. You could get a Citibank student card, then convert it to the AAdvantage card. That's what I did, although I made the switch several years out of college. They probably don't market the mileage cards to students directly, as most students would not see the value in paying a $50 annual fee when most cards are available for free.
