Citibank Visa - a thing of the past?

Question
Citi sent me a MasterCard recently to
replace my citi VISA. A letter came a
few days later saying that they are
doing this because of a new deal with MasterCard.
Is Citi replacing all their VISAs with
MCs?

Answer
Yup.
You can still get a Visa if you raise a fuss.

Answer
Since I already had a MC with half the interest rate and almost twice the credit limit, Told them to cancel it.
Still shows up as a live cord on my credit report. Watch it.

Answer
A couple years ago the plan was for Citi to get rid of Visa and start marketing its own credit card (like an AmEx).
They're still getting rid of Visa, but I'm not sure if they're still planning on that longshot idea of starting a new credit card.

Answer
Citi & MC have some kind of deal going that's really good for Citibank, so they're trying to force everyone to get off of Visa.
I told my mom to upgrade her AAdvantage Gold Visa to Visa Signature so that she could get free enrollment into Avis Preferred Select. The Citibank reps keep badgering her to stick with what she has or "upgrade" to MC, even though the MC doesn't provide any of the benefits of the Signature card.
I guess they're so concerned with making everyone switch to MC that they think being rude and forceful to good customers is a good idea.

Answer
Sure enough, today I got a pre-approved card offer from Citi.

Answer
Just found an application form for HHonors Citi Visa Signature card in my monthly or quarterly HHonors statement and i applied it online today. Given HHonors still use Visa, Citibank can't just yet rid of Visa card, right? Otherwise they would have change it to be an MC instead of Visa.
But Citibank did change my Citi Visa to be Platinum select in the past. I cancelled it after getting a Citibank Diamond Preferred card which has Citi savings program similar to Citi Dollors in the past.
I now am just waiting to be upgraded to be a Hilton Silver when i get the card, a benefit comes along with the HHonors Citi Visa Signature card.

Answer
I don't think that Citi is done with Visa just yet;

Answer
The Citi HHonors Visa/MC is from Citibank USA.
The Citi AAdvantage Visa/MC is from Citibank SD.
These are separate banks. I believe one is pushing towards MC while the other has less interest.

Answer
To clearify the situation with Citi and MasterCard over Visa...
Feb 2000, Citibank proposed having the association logo's fall off from the front of the card and onto the back. Citibank wants to emphasis the CITI brand; and hopes to create its very own association network (i.e. like AMEX)
However VISA bulked at the suggestion of its trademark flag to fall off the card and slip on the back, thgus resulting in Citibank's resigning top top seats on the Visa Board of Directors. Mastercard on the other hand agreed to let Citi put it's Mastercard logo on the back, if Citi agreed to concentarte on issuing Mastercard and converting VISA accounts to MC.
Currently Citi has a card called "citi.you" which is the first MC to have the association logo appear on the back of the card. I personally don't like the idea of having a new card processing network. After Citi, what next? MBNA and FirstUSA having there own networks. Between Visa/AMEX/MC/Novus, etc we have enough card choices.
Ultimately Citi wants a bigger piece of the pie from MC.
