MC World is their version of VI Signature...both very similar

Answer
Yeah, I think they are the same, and both are supposed to be one level 'above' Platinum, whatever that means..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I guess they must make exceptions for poor grad students..

Answer
Every bank makes it's own decisions on credit policy and what the minimum income/net worth you must have. However, the associations do say what the minimum credit line can be associated with a card. So you must qualify for a different minimum w/ a World or Signature than with a Classic or a Gold card. But how this minimum is assigned depends on the issuer.
As for the benefits. Both World and Signature offer no pre-set spending limit. This means that you have a defined credit limit within which you are allowed to revolve. For example, you have a credit limit of $5,000 and can also spend/revolve up to this amount. However in a certain month you might spend $6,000. With a nonWorld/Signature card you would have to pay an over the limit fee, with these cards you just have to pay the full $1000 over your limit and any standard minimum payment when your monthly statement is issued. The amount that the issuer allows you spend over your limit is adjusted regularly and based on your income, spending and payment habits.
As for the differences between Signature (Visa) and World (MasterCard)... They tend to be minor.
Hope this helps answer some of the questions.

Answer
Visa Signature was intended to be the epitomy of Visa's card products, however issuers are handing out Signature like there's no tomorrow. A myriad of Platinum members are getting the conversion.
Although Visa/MC make the cards appear so elite and exclusively for the wealthy, anyone can get one.
That's the only problem, Visa/MC create innovative card roducts (i.e. Visa Infinite) however shortly after the launch, they relax the criterea and therefore a myriad of people qualify and obtain the card(s). Ultimately the card truly isn't "for the select few, exclusively by invitation only" etc.

Where can I apply/get the Infinte Card? Do anyone here have it?

Answer
World Master Card offers 1 Million Doallars in FREE Flight insurance. My question is this. Does it count only on Revenue Tickets. I.E. if I "pay" my fees & taxes W/ my World Acct.on my free frequent flyer award, Am I covered insurance wise?
And it offers $3000 Free excess luggage insurance. It seems for the Traveler, these are actual enhancements, not mere marketing hype.

Answer
No, I think you're only covered if you purchase the tickets with the World Master Card.

Answer
VISA Signature is supposed to offer room upgrades in hotels, but I have unable to discover which hotels and under what circumstances. Does anyone know?

Answer
You can get room upgrades at participating Le Meridien hotels and at the Ritz Carlton.
It's all here at:

You need to look under the preferred travel program for the specific benefits.

Answer
The Hilton Hhonors Visa through Citibank was also changed to a Signature Visa and has no annual fee. Although the HHonors Visa program is not the greatest I like that fact that their customer service department is quite good. You actually receive a real person when you call their 800# without receiving a menu of touch-tone options.
There is a misconception that Signature cards do not have a credit limit. They actually have a revolving line of credit.

Answer
I called Citibank this evening and spoke to their customer service about "applying" for this Signature Card. She had no idea about this card! Does anyone knows what number to call regarding this card? (possibly a customer service number)
Thanks~

Keep in mind that 'Citibank' in this case is Citibank USA, not Citibank, SD, of AAdvantage fame. They are both owned by Citgroup, but one is a Delaware subsidiary and the other is South Dakota. This is why when you call Citi SD or go to your local branch, they don't know much, if anything, about the HHonors card.

Answer
Anyone know of any World Mastercards with no annual fee ? All the ones from Citibank have annual fees (AAdvantage, Travelocity).

Answer
Open a Citi Gold account and have the annual fee waved. You need to deposit a min of 100K in cash/investments.
