Question
Hi -- this is my first posting... anyway, I recently got a letter in the mail telling me that First USA is now going to be charging for their ValueMiles program -- $29 annually.
I distinctly recall signing up for the program about five years ago after getting a promo that promised the program was "Free for Life."
I'm not sure I can still find the flyer (I'm a packrat, although I've moved a couple of times since then...)
I remember they tried doing something like this one other time, and I called them to complain. They told me that my account was still free for life and removed the annual fee. But this time, the CSR wouldn't budge.
Has anyone else gotten this letter? It seems a little unfair if "free for life" actually means "free until we decide we wanr to start charging you an annual fee" instead.
Answer
I have always had to pay an annual fee and I've had the card for about 5 years.
