Question
Does anyone know how FirstUsa treats balance transfers from their card to another c.c.? I am wondering if the miles accrued with the balance are lost OR does FirstUsa treat the transfer as a "payment"
thanks for the info

Answer
It is treated as a payment
Answer
How would the other card treat this transfer? Cash advance or charge? If the other card earn points, would you earn points with the balance transfer?

The other card treats it as a balance transfer - and some have fees, others don't.
They almost always DO NOT earn points with transfers, and they usually say that somewhere in the small print. It is possible sometime that they could have a promotion - but I haven't seen something like that in many years.

I recently signed up for a targeted promo on the AA Citi card, which contained (in fine print) the fact that up to 10,000 miles could be earned once for a balance transfer. I had a balance on a non-miles card and made the transfer,,,,,Citi is aware of the miles that should be earned, and now its just a wait and see!!

Cool promotion - was that for a new card, or did you already have one?
