Question
Effective May 1, GoldPoints transfer ratio to airline accounts will become 8:1 instead of current 4:1 (for those with GP accounts through Radisson). For more information see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum91/HTML/000228.html .
That makes GoldPoints Rewards VISA card very unattractive, with measly 0.375 mile per $ spent (it earns 3 GP points per $). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Answer
I just got the card and made a first charge. The point have not post to my account yet. by the time it post, it only worth half it used to be http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif
Answer
If you fly United, Continental, or Midwest you may want to opt for MBNA's Amtrak Mastercard. No annual fee and you can transfer on a 1:1 basis into any of the aforementioned airline frequent flyer programs an 5,000 mile increments. They have other non-airline partners as well.

What timing! I just switched my MBNA account to this card after getting an offer I couldn't turn down. 0% for nine months, then 9.9 fixed thereafter, including cash advances. CRAP! I guess I'm stuck with it as I refuse to keep hitting my credit report with multiple inquiries. Are there any other decent values to use goldpoints on?

I just returned last night from a three week trip to Europe. Of course, we put all of our expenses on our Goldpoints card. What a waste! I probably switch credit cards around too much, but I'm cancelling anyway.
Answer
I was kicking myself for not taking one of the 2 GoldPoints Visa 0% offers I have received in the past few months, and instead going for a 10,000 mile bonus on the Citi AAdvantage WorldMC and paying an annual fee. No longer!
Answer
I just called and switched my MBNA cards, you don't need to reapply.

To what? At the old ratio this card was good for .75 a mile (Actually been getting 1.5). Now it is worth .375 or .3 a mile depending on if you have a stay (not even sure if you can redeem if you don't, but then I guess you could switch to another GP card with the 10:1 ratio). The Hilton visa gives .4 miles for me. At these ratios I think I may just go back to a cashback card.
Anyone know of what is a worthwhile card? Preferable with no annual fee.
Lots of bad news lately for me milage earnings wise, the idine restraunt near me dropped out of the program today.

Not fee free, but if you value a domestic ticket at an average of 250.00, then I can get the SW RAPID REWARD VISA for about 3 cents per mile......correct my math please:
You get two FREE credits for using the card first time. You can transfer 5,000 of other card balances during first 90 days fee free, so keep using your other mileage card for the first few months and pay it with the new card. Who doesn't charge at least $5,000 in 90 days? Certainly close enough. You will be getting at least ONE more free credit during the next 6 months for checking your ONLINE STATEMENT. Now you only need to SPEND $8,000 for your REWARD. Spending $8,000 and getting a value of plus or minus $240.00 is 3 cents per dollar spent. The fee for the classic card is only $39.00.

Although I do not have one yet, I think the MBNA Amtrak card sounds like a good deal to transfer to UA or CO- 1-to-1 conversion every 5000 miles. However, the sign-up bonus is a measly 500 points. But the card has no annual fee. The AMEX Delta gold is also a good deal for the first year year, provided you get the first year fee waiver- it has a 10,000 mile sign-up bonus. Then, several banks (Delta Amex, NWA US Bank, UAL First USA) offer no-annual-fee versions of their cards, but they earn 1 mile per $2, and you usually have to call and ask. Half a mile per dollar is better than nothing for no annual fee, right?
Regarding idine, don't worry. I had a few restaurants near me drop, but then one of them reappeared some months later. You never know, this might be the case. Maybe call the restaurant manager and let him/her know.

I have a lot of confidence in fscher's research (she's helped me get ton of AA miles), but I don't know how you would pay one card with the other. Do you take out a cash advance, and if so, do you have to pay a fee for that?

You call SW Visa and tell them to do the transfer. They pay your XXX card and you pay them from your checking account or online banking account. While there is no "fee," there is interest on this type of thing.......but it is less than .50 cents when I do it because I pay online the minute the transfer balance hits. I pay most of my credit cards by online payment and they deduct it from my checking account the next morning.
Edited to say: The transfer is not a one time shot. You can pay off several cards over the 90 days, or one card three times, etc. The finance fee (I think the .50 is a minimum) would happen each time even if you pay it in full the first day, but it really takes 24 hours before it is posted. I don't find this fee to be a problem in the big scheme, but if you waited for the Visa bill to arrive, it might not be worth doing.
****EDITED FOR IMPORTANT INFOR****
It appears that the rules have changed. Only 30 days for bal. transfer with no fee. 90 days to still get RR credit. BE SURE TO CALL FOR CURRENT INFO BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING since things keep changing with all of the cards.
