Best FF credit card in Germany?

Question
I think about the LH Gold Visa or the AA Gold Visa Card. Which is the better choice? Is there another card available in Germany or just the two above?
As a Platinum on AA would the status be written on the card like on LH or would I get two different cards? One gold credit card and one Platinum?
Tim

Answer
The Citibank AAdvantage Gold MasterCard does not have your AAdvantage programme status on the card. Since this status can change every year it means that they would have to give you a new credit card every year.
The application number is:
Telefon (0 5921)86 16 16
www.citibank.de (http://www.citibank.de) oder www.citi-aadvantage.de (http://www.citi-aadvantage.de)
You get 5,000 bonus miles when you sign up.
There is no mileage cap for the Citi AAdvantage card - regardless of your AA status. Pretty good deal.

I'm a German Citizen living in the US? Does anybody know if I could have 2 AA cards. I already got the US World Mastercard, but would not mind signing up for the German Card as well just for the Bonus Miles! Is this possible?

The AA card is run by different orgs, so you can have technically 2 separate AA cards.
For Germany, however, you'll need some proof of residence & finance in Germany. Maybe your parent's bank account & address should suffice.
The job residence may prove a barrier to approval acceptance in Germany, but you can always have your parents apply in that case, thereby getting the card under them, with you paying the bill, of course.
By the way, if you're doing for the bonus miles, WAIT until Citibank does their annual 10,000 bonus miles in a couple of months--a MUCH BETTER OFFER!.....keep reading the boards here (i.e. AA) and you'll eventually be let on when the offer is on.

The German division just launched the card in Germany in March of 2002. They do not and most likely will not (according to my contact) offer 10,000 bonus miles for sign-up. There is no discussion on customers between the two corporate entities so you could certainly have a German card and a US card if you are approved for both.
Having your parents apply and using your AAdvantage number is not really an option since Citibank and AA match the primary cardholder's name to the AAdvantage account and only the primary may earn miles.

A banker told me that the European Visa and Mastercards (Gold & Platinum) don't cover (CDW) rental car insurances!?!
You can have as many cards as you want, if and when you have an address/job in the country.
However, it may bring your credit rating down.

Thanks for the advise! I have had a Citibank account for years in Germany and used to have Credit Cards with Citibank Germany, which I canceled, because of the annual fees. Being aproved should not be a problem.
By any chance do you know what the annual fee for the German Citi card is?
Thanks
