Question
Okay, I may finally be certifiable! In my neverending quest for more miles, I have come up with my most creative miles earning plan yet. I recently got my teen daughter a Visa Buxx card (it's a prepaid Visa card) and her allowance is automatically transferred from my miles earning Mastercard weekly. As well as any other school expenses. Instead of giving her cash, I just log in, load money to her card, and send her shopping.
Miles for teen spending. You gotta love it!
Answer
I'm going to move your thread to the Visa board, so in the future people can find it without a massive amount of searching.

PltPrincess are you sure that this transaction earns miles? Or, does it appear as a cash advance - thus earning fees but no miles?

Answer
Doesn't Visa Buxx have substantial fees for transferring funds in?
Answer
There are several issuers for the Visa Buxx cards, each with their own rules and fee schedules.
I don't remember how it worked with the other issuers, though I did look into each of the issuers and also the defunct cobalt card however ...
I got one from Capital One for my teenage step-daughter as a sweet 16 present. I linked my Capital One/Mileage One Visa card to the account in order to fund it. The charges actually appear as purchases, and I earn miles on them.
The downside is that there's a $2 monthly fee (charged to the Buxx card account) for setting up automatic transfers. Once the account is drained to a zero balance, they stop charging the monthly fee.
